Bolts in suspenstion question

I am trying to remove my rear skid to install new hifaxes on my 06 Summit. I had a ZX Chasis before and I just removed the 2 rear bolts & the 2 front bolts and the skid came out. Well it looks like the front 2 bolts go through a rubber bushing and I am having a hard getting them out all the way out. And I only was ablt to get one of the rear ones out. I cannot remember if the bolts in the rear work together at all or not. Any suggestions? I know it should not be this difficult. Thanks.

Seems like alot of work, seems the last one I did, we loosend the track all the way and pulled the hyfax straight out the back through the track window. If I remember right we sprayed the crap out of the window with good ol WD-40 and they came right out. Might be worth trying, should save ya a ton of time.:beer;

Have thought about trying it that way but the windows do not look that big. Plus I would have to get the screw out of the front of the hifax before they can slide. I am ok with removing susupension because before it did not take too long (but that was with ZX chasis).

If you flip sled on its side you can get the screws out. The bolts holding the skid in are coated with locktite, you need to run one side out, clean it, then run it back in snug, then work on the other side, kind of a PITA. The two front, if like my 07, are bolts with nylock nuts you can get a wrench on, inside the tunnel. I use a ratchet strap to compress the RR shock and assembly and make sure to loosen the rear idlers all the way. Hope this helps... Also make sure you have some beers, makes everything more enjoyable:beer;:D

Had the front nuts off the front but the bolts do not seem to come all the way out. Used some vice grips and pulled the bolts out but they would not come all of the way out. Have had to use a ratcheting strap to compress everything to get it back in will use it to see if it helps to get it out. Got the rear idlers already loosend. Not as easy as the other chasis. But it will come out.

Sorry to hear your having so much trouble, sounds like something is bound up, hopefully the strap will work. Good luck

Lay sled on side, and only bolt that needs taken off is at the front of the hy-fax. Cut one side of a window and slide out hy-fax.(may need to tap it out with hammer and 3/8 extentoin or an old bolt)

Well finally got them all out. Did have to run one of the rear bolts back in to get the other rear one out. Finally got the front ones out as well. Took some pulling but then they just unscrewed and came out. Now I am just having the problem that I knew I would have. Got the rear bolts started just need to get the front ones lined up. Got soooo close with one of them but I could not get the strap to go one more click in order to compress suspension to get it lined up. But I knew this would be the difficult part because I am doing it by myself. But it will go in just need to work on it a little more. Stopped last night at around midnight - too tired.

bolts

put the fronts in first,run a rachet strap from top of rear shock cross bar to front of skid limiter strap cross bar and tighin with a$$ end in the air it should take no longer than 5 mins to install if all is correct.
ps dont forget the bushings,if its a short track and you dont have room underneath you can run the strap to the bumper or you buddys neck that is sitting on the cooler keeping the beer cold and not helping:D:beer;cheers
you can also soften the susp up rear springs and front shock;mark and count the turns on the spaner nut.it helps
