Boggy at low RPM

I just got back from a little trail riding with the kids. Its was one of those rides where you dont seem to get past 40 (Km/h) After a few yes mamas i gave her a good shot and she kind of poped and then seemed to run real rich. Sputered and poped at low rpm but if you feather the throttle and get the rpm up she was fine. I done that ffor a few minute till i got inot a clearing and I stoped for the kids to catch up. When she idle there again a little sputering and when she poped again she ran fine for the rest of the ride?? Im lost any one got a guess as to what was going on. Im still running 50:1 oil and I wait till she is warmed up before we moved out.

Sounds like your TPS may have got bumped out of adjustment... There is a link in the How To sticky that explains the reset procedure.

Also, What do you mean you are running 50:1? Are you running Pre-mix?

Yeah run pre-mix, on my second tank of 50:1. Crank and piston were just done by IndyDan

So how are you lubricating the water/oil pump cross shaft?

It is generally accepted that you can not run these sleds on pre-mix. The bearings do not get enough oil and the cross-shaft requires an oil bath similar to a 4-stroke motor. A happy 900 motor likes oil and lots of it. I'm concerned your not getting enough oil to the bottom end. Lots of folks will run 100:1 in addition to the oil injection, but not to completely remove it.

sorry, I must have wrote something wrong there. Im running pre-mix 50:1 but I still have the stock oil injection. I didnt remove any of the oil system. After a few tanks of 50:1 I will be gunning the 100:1 as suggested by IndyDan.

Oh, ok, that makes MUCH more sense!

When running 50:1 in ADDITION to your oil injection, your running pig rich on oil... it's not gonna be running very good, the occasional bog or fouled plug wouldn't be out of the ordinary.... If you can get it running fast to 'clean it out' a few good pulls across a big meadow, or up a hill should clean out some of the excess... once you get some of that oil run out it should run better...

Too little oil causes engine damage, too much oil and it runs like crap.... there's a fine line, lol.

Continue to moniter as you get some of that oil out and get the sled broken in, she should clean out. If problems persist after that, post up about it:beer;

yeh i also second the TPS needs adjustment, replaced (possible dead spot, test with analog meter) or your TPS harness is shorting.

adjust TPS per video, manually sweep the sensor for dead spot, AND replace the TPS harness while your in there..

report back, ;)

X2.... i recently reset my TPS on my 06 Poo 700 (755) RMK. Ran great..... for a while..... i dug into the TPS harness and low and behold..... one of the lines fell apart in my hand. I ordered two and installed one harness with the other left in the tool box just in case.

What do/did plugs show?

Well I just got back out in the shop to have a look at her. I tried to fire her up and she ran like crap, real boggy. So I shut her down and pulled the plugs. Mag side looked great ( they only have one run on them ) the PTO side was wet,dripping wet. Took out a spare and dropped it in and she purrs like a kitten again. One run on new plugs and I have a dead plug, dont they make anything like they use too???
