Took the sled out today with Miko700 for our maiden voyage of the year.

Rained for the better part of the day and snow was wet and heavy, but we had a blast just getting the skis on the snow and giving the sleds a good shakedown cruise. Started snowing heavy at the end of the day so hopefully we'll get a good base.

On to the issue.......After unloading and heading up the road from the SnoPark, the sled was real boggy for the first 1/4 mile or so. Mike said I was puffing out a good amount of blue smoke, then it stopped. Sled ran great after that....no lack of power, snappy, and overall running like a bat outta hell.

We stopped at the warming hut and chatted with some guys and took a break for about a 1/2 hr. When we started up again, the same thing happened.

This happened one other time after stopping for about 10 minutes or so. Just stopping for a few minutes to discuss location and direction, then starting up seemed to have no affect and she ran fine. Only after she sits for a bit does it do this.

I had my local dealer replace my crank seals after a small air leak was noticed between the case half's, could they have set the oiler to rich? (am going to visually check tomorrow)

Checked TPS and it's right on money.

Any ideas?

just an idea, but are the power valves clean? had mine do this two years ago, and the power valves were all gummed up. after the engine gets hot and loosens up the oil they start working correctly. just an idea

Sticking oiler cable shouldnt make it load up with oil while not running... this sounds like center crank seals. You can monitor your oil consumption to verify this. Allow the oil level in the bottle to get below half and the problem should go away (if it is the center seals leaking)

Yup, center crank seals leaking into crankcase. Good think I am bringing 4 sleds to WA to ride.

absolutely agree with this...dano knows these just as well as some of us...and i completely agree...thinking its the center crank seals leaking oil into case when not in operation....
