This thread has actually made me kind of sit back and get angry with fellow snowmobilers and even business owners that are dependant on the recreation dollar.
I have volunteered for my club since like I said I was 16. The club has paid the drivers of the groomer 2 or 3 times on really big years due to all the time invested in it but most years it's strictly volunteer and that's fine with me. Also all the other things within the club, it's a passion for it I guess. What I can't understand is everything that says I don't have time or I can't do that because I have to do this or that. BS!!!! If everyone of course paid their dues, and then simply helped out with one function in their local club on a regular basis this sport would be so strong we wouldn't even be having these discussions.
For the folks that are involved, how many of your riding buddies and friends are simply leeachs, and how many are members of something? I bet the table is tipped pretty heavily in the leeachs category isn't it?
What is the answer? I think we all know that only when a paticuliar area gets closed or thretened close to each persons own area is the only time some stand up and get involved.
