Blue Mountains 2010-11

The server is not big enough for all the pics of Mike stuck. Plumnuts had a rough day yesterday. So rough that I am taking him to Dayton tomorrow for Cat schooling.

Some of the excuses I heard:

Too Many RPMS
Not Enough RPMS
Didn't want to hit the trees
It is not transferring weight.
Cats Trench too much.

See you tomorrow

Ride Report 1/2/11

Rode in at Bluewood... Dayton side lots of powder, sunshine, groomed trails, nice people, and great burgers .. there was a lot of untracked fields:face-icon-small-coo

The promised "Cat School" became an all Canadian affair as the ROTAX got "detained" once due to a tree limb coming into contact with the kill switch... and the CAT??? it was a L O N G, L O N G day for the Cat rider and honestly I lost count how many times I dug out my shovel to dig out the Orange Cat:face-icon-small-dis Can't wait until next week!!!!

I will admit, Mike had to help free me three times and only twice was a shovel required. Once again the excuse were flying from the Doo camp:

I can't wreck Janets sled too.
I already blew one belt.
My belt is too hot.
I need a hamburger.
The snow is too deep.

He says I trench. I am not sure what he is talking about.

Mike I though Skidoos were supposed to float.

Ride Report 1/8/11

Went in at Cloverland... in the AM the road was iffy just before the sno park... but this afternoon the road was all plowed... great access!

Trails are groomed, snow has settled I think it was 3.5 feet at the marker... 2-3 inches of new powder and pretty much go anywhere. Still not enough snow for the Tail Bone or some of the other steeper runs for me... I see people on Junior but too much crap that you can hit... and just don't want to tear up a track for bragging rights...

Burgers at the Mt Misery warm up were GREAT... They feed again on Sunday

All in all the day was full of sunshine and fun... and to the little gal on the old Cat (like 80 vintage)... you can ride!!!

We will report back on that go anywhere snow tomorrow. DooDoos vs Cats on the hill in Dayton. Camera will have extra batteries.

Nice to everyone in Dayton. The snow was pretty good. Bill we will have to ride some day if you ride with a cat off trail.

Prepare for the excuses from the Doo Camp.

Just let me know when. There should be some good riding coming with the snow I put my order in for later this week. If flying W rides, he is the one you have to watch out for especially if your ski stance is wider than his.

Ride Report 1/9/11

Rode out of Dayton yesterday, it was a really strange weekend. The Seahawks won and a Cat went higher on the mountain than the XP, but hey it was a STRANGE weekend.

Trail wise the trails are good, probably 6 inches of powder but in some places maybe a foot of the powder stuff. Burgers were great at the warm up shed... and the snowmobiliers are great on that side of the mountains.

Now back to Cat bashing:

and um, kinda cool picture of Cat... (the one that kicked my BUTT on the high mark and had to, um, er, perform a rescue on a XP hanging from a cliff... but as I said, "it was a weird weekend":face-icon-small-sho

Mike I have to agree with you 100% on the weird weekend thing. The Cats got stuck in some stupid places. :face-icon-small-sho On more then one occasion the doo riders were checking the lugs on their track. Not sure why that was. There were hills that the doo did not even attempt that the short track cat went up with ease. Then there was the infamous Highmark hill. Not only did the Doo have to get rescued off of this hill by the Cat Rescue Service, it did not make a half way up to where the Cat turned around. :brokenheart:

The only thing weirder would have been if the Cats left a deeper trench then the doo. And we all know that my cat does not trench.:amen:

Does anyone have an idea of how the snow/weather is supposed to be this weekend? This is one of my few weekends off and was wanting to ride saturday/sunday but it is unusally warm/rainy down lower. Usually go up the Cloverland side. Thanks.

STAY OFF THE TAIL BONE AND THE FACE OF MISERY... they do slide... been there when it happens... not something you want to experience.

I rode around Bluewood last night and estimated 4-6 inches of new snow so yes they did get snow up there last night. The old snow was hard underneath with just a little cushon on top of it.

I haven't been to Godman for a few weeks so don't know what it is like that direction. It has settled a lot but things appeared to still be covered well. Burgers will be cooked at Godman on Sunday, I will be one of the cooks.

WOW!!!!!!! What a day!!!! So much powder it was the best of all year! If you didn't go you missed it. The trails were groomed SUPER smooth and the only downside was missing the buffalo on the trail and Mike getting the Nitro unstuck.... WTF!!!! :face-icon-small-sho Oh wait we are NOT in the Blue Mountains we are in Montana!!

Oh crap!!
