Blue lakes/ kirkwood

Was out there last weekend on Sunday.. Lot of untouched snow. few dig outs showed at least 90-100 inches of fresh snow on top of 2-4 feet of base. Any one down to ride off trail/ deep back country hit me up. Thinking about Twin peaks tomorrow if I can get there from blackwood. Would be cool meeting a few new people.. All rider levels welcome mild to wild.. Willing to ride where ever if it's good.

Thanks guys... ride safe.. think snow

stopped by there yesterday on the way home from kirkwood. talked to a few guys, they said it was really wet and soupy from the rain.

i have not been out there since storm before last. last night it was dumping there at 5pm

i am down to ride anytime i can find someone to watch the kids. I am thinking tuesday next. i am willing to go anywhere...

yea every thing under about 7800 is wet.. After that every 200+ feet you go up it gets better and better.. I rode to 9000 last Sunday I didn't go any further because of how hard it was snowing.. Didn't have enough sets of goggles.. I'm working mid shift right now.. But weekends I'm always game. Spent alot of time digging out up there.. Plenty of snow

I'm new to the area (Reno) and looking for people to ride with. I sent you guys PM's. Anyone else, weekday rides work for me, and open to road trips (McCall, UT, WY, CO). If you see me in a snopark, grab me. Biege ToyotaTundra with an orange doo.

PM, or Call/text @ 425-614-978 two.

There should be a sticky in the forum for this stuff!

I rode Hope Valley on Saturday and conditions have diminished dramatically. There is virtually no snow at the parking lot and/or where the trail begins. Had to ride over dirt, rock, standing water, and about a quarter mile or so of asphalt before i even reached snow on the trail. Up top there was 6 feet or so but i did not find any powder. It was all really wet heavy snow that was a nightmare to get unstuck from. Literally ended up digging a shoulder deep hole that was 10' long and 4' wide by the time i got unstuck from behind Twin Lake. I definitely will not be going back until we get another storm or two.

ya... it’s not that bad. was up there on tuesday. was thin on the road, but still had snow on it. launch on the right side of the road facing blue lakes and ride around the snowmobile rental area. there is snow to stay on. there were a couple bare spots on the road. i bet the rental guy will push more snow on the road and groom it for saturday... I’m sure he wants business and doesn’t want his sleds running on pavement.

up top, there is plenty of snow. way more than there was before the last low rain/high snow storm.

there was actually a little storm that came through on saturday night and left about 6” up top.

we found a few areas with untouched snow with some powder turns. :face-icon-small-win

Also: just called Carson Ranger District and Forestdale Road is open to snowmobiling as of today, because of the minimal snow on blue lakes road...

What is the name of the sled rental shop?

kirkwood got 8-10” yesterday.
currently dumping, started about 1 hour ago. kirkwood is predicted to get 8-12” during the day today:face-icon-small-coo

Sounds like the kirkwood area caught the brute of the storm again, I'm loading up the trailer and heading that way. Cant stand looking at the sled in the garage anymore:face-icon-small-dis

If anyone wants to ride shoot me a message or a phone call 563-299-7357, Im in Auburn got room for a couple more sleds! not sure when ill blast off yet but would love to put in some miles.

any early birds out that can fill me in on a first hand snowmo report?

tragedy was deep today, found some bowls with over hood powder, wind was blowing like crazy, on and off drizzle and flurries all day
heading back tomorrow
so sore from digging out all day, really hard to float a tank
all in all great ride though

rode kirkwood area over the weekend.. still waist deep snow.. was perfect snow for getting to places I haven't been able to get to in awhile.. was an awesome day in the tree's.. found some awesome wind blown drops. I'll be out Saturday supposed to pick up another foot or more this week.. will be fresh. any one know if twin peaks in acessible.. haven't rode blackwood since december. I know the bowl is at 8500 so i know the snow is deep(twin peaks)

Ride Saturday

Reading these posts and was wondering if someone might be willing to take me around this area this saturday. Normally ride lakes basin but no snow over on this side. I'm a good safe rider and will not slow you down. Run a 2010 m-8 turbo. PM or post a number if possible. Thanks

I doubt you could get to the bottom of it.

I might be wrong but I don't see those little creek fingers having any snow around them.

It's bleak below 7k. Those meadows are in the 6's.

Any updates on snow conditions?

was out tuesday. blue lakes road is pavement for about 1 mile?? or more. the ranger opened forestdale road. the snow was firm with wind blown dust and pockets of 3-6” powder.

my neighbor was out yesterday and said it was a bit firm early in the afternoon.
we are going out tomorrow. hopefully it will not get too cold tonight and be fairly soft by early afternoon.

there is still plenty of snow
