Blown up pro!

My original guess was a crank seal went out, after tear down I'm thinking it may be something else, what do you guys think?

Sleds a 2013 pro rmk.
I'm running a BMP 860 top end.
Both intake skirts show scoring, mag cyl ring broke, piston appears to have made contact with top of the intake port.
Top end only had 800 miles on it.

I've emailed the BMP R&D guy but have not heard back.
Mag intake, Obvious damage to center, looks like it caught on the port. Off to the right you can see where the ring broke off.

PTO skirt scoring

Both exhaust skirts look fine.

Unfortunately the ring that broke smacked the head dome a few times so it's a bit beat,

On the bright side of things I picked up new side panels with vents, not that they do me much good now but sure looks good sitting on the trailer..

I can't say for sure, a very reputable performance sled shop up here built the sled originally, so id assume if machine work was needed it was done.

It is uncommon to have just the intake side do that. I would say snow or water ingestion. The exhaust side looks decent, which that side will normally scuff before the intake side. Best of luck getting them to stand behind it since you are not the original owner. Sucks for sure, hope you get it back on the snow.

Stand behind what? Doesn't look like anything would be defective, like mentioned, specially after 800 miles. Get your injectors cleaned and checked while its apart, that could of been part of your problem.

I don't blame the builder what so ever. Sled ripped would stand straight up on flat ground without trying to.

I did haul the sled with no cover for 100+ miles, air box looked clean but the rest of the sled was pretty dirty. I suppose it's possible something may have gotten in there. I did notice a couple reed tips are missing now.

My best guess after seeing a bunch of blown cfi's.

Test your injectors.
Check for possible water ingestion places.
Measure the top vs bottom of the piston diameters to check for collapsed skirts.

Any ring coating flaking?

I haven't looked close at the rings. I will tomorrow and I'll mic the Pistons.

Not sure how to test the injectors, guess I'll read into that.

I should just bring the engine to you and let you look at it. Haha jk.

After it blew up I checked the plugs, normally it ran on the safe side, but after this the PTO plug looked spot on, mag cyl plug looked WAY lean.

Chad will look at it for you.
He wont fix it for free :)
But he will have some insight.

Youtube injector testing.

I usually send injectors to Witch Hunters in Washington as soon as I tear into a CFI engine. They usually have a good turn around time (last time 5 days, Dec 15), and reasonable prices. That way I know right away if one is junk or one was plugged.

I wasn't aware of a way to do it yourself. I will have to watch the youtube video.
