Blown 1115 belt at 150 miles. You've gotta see the Polaris answer...

They are geared big to keep them from over rev when you are at 100 feet and making 150hp at the crank. Gearing down for elevation will help. Simple physics. Less heat and slip at elevation.

a pulled cord is not a blown belt if you are replacing belts when the cord starts to pull you are wasting your money, if you want to see a belt eater you check out some of them on my old m1000. you need a vaccum cleaner to clean out the belly pan sorry dude

Completely agree but its the beginning of the end. After I pull a cord I have another 100-200 miles before there is a performance loss. I never blew a 115 but have plenty around that wont hold rpm.

First belt on this 2013 163" was at 515 miles. My 2 2011 163's would get around 800 - 1000 miles and still look good but I would replace them thinking they had to be getting close to blowing.

I'll have to try the cat belt if these 1115 belts don't last. $196 is pretty steep.

By the way... I checked my engine mounts and all looks good there. I clean my clutches every few hundred miles +/-. I have had clutch side venting from day one, and usually open the side panels every time I take a break from riding.

I blew the Polaris belt in less than 100 miles , blow hole and 048 cat 455 miles I bought four 048 on line for $65. Each New !

So, I bought a 115 ebay special for $152 on 2011/03-21. It lasted a very short while, maybe ~100 mi. The top of the belt began to break apart in chunks... Not warrantied.

Then bought a 048 ebay special for $72 on 2012/03-01. Just on my last trip/ride it failed, the top of the belt broke off completely...all the way around. I'd guesstimate a solid 800-1000 miles, probably closer to the thousand mile mark. I cycled back and forth between another 115 and the 048 a bit, so not 100% on mileage.

I put the spare 115 on after the Cat belt chunked, it was pulling threads after 1 day of riding..

However, I found my engine mounts to be sacked out (2011) and 2ndary offset off by at least 1 shim.

I'll be buying another 048 as my primary, and will cut the threads on the 115 and keep it as my spare. I can't afford a $200 belt when a ~$65 belt performs equally.

We have Big Drivebelt problems here in Sweden! A lot of -13 and -14 Pro 800 owners have to deal with cord pulling out! after 100 miles!!
I have tried everything on my new -14, TKI kit, clutch kits, vents, my dealer have checked everything but can't find anything!
2 Belts in 300 miles now:(

Frustrating, the "funny" thing is, my buddy have 1000 miles on same belt!! and not a singel cord....

Polars must have som BIG quality problems, don't now if it is with the Belts or the transmissions on the Pros.

(Pro -11 and -12 owners have no belt problems/cord pulling out!!??)

holy crap guys I have 2000 miles on my first belt with a BD turbo still looks great. Have never cleaned the clutches and only installed some venting this season. I am betting that alot of the guys that are having belt trouble have a very abrubt type of riding style(instant on instant off)

How much are these cat 048 belts? Do you have to adjust the clutch to run them? That seems like a good way to go!

Maybe you're right! But I had the same riding style on my -12 Assault RMK and no belt problem at all!

Haven't heard any -11 and -12 Pro or Rmk (-11t to-14) that have this problem, I think its connected to the belt drive system! What else can it be??

You may be onto something there... I had 2 2011 163's. I would say each one of them saw around 3,000 miles. I know I had cords pull on one belt up around 700 to 800 miles. All the other belts never pulled cords. Only reason I changed the belts on the 2011's was because I thought I should around 800 to 1000 miles. QD system may have something to do with this??

I'm gonna try some of these cat belts and see what happens...

I have 400 miles on my 14' and the cord pulled last week. I think it was because it got too hot during the ride. I do ride my sled hard. I am not ever out for a "easy Sunday drive" My sled gets used we will see what the new belt gets. I just put the old one in the spare belt spot and we will see what happens the rest of this year.

Oh yes my -12 was pulling cords also but was not as bad as my -13 and i belive it. was the gearing that helpt (-12 19/45) its said that you got the blame when you talk to the dealer and no free belts ....... I know use the cat belt and it seems to last longer but not good .........

I cut mine and burn the small fray off and it runs fine. I seem to pull cord in 100 miles so switched to arctic 048 belt and no cord pulled yet after 150 miles.

Do you have to adjust the clutch to run that belt? Are you pulling the same rpm?

After replacing a bulkhead this year I meticulously checked all aspects of proper clutch setup. I installed an Slp torque arm and used a caliper to check and set parallelism. I've can not recall for sure but I'm running roughly .030 float. After 500 or so miles the belt looks wonderful and it seems to live in a very low dust environment....

Just over 1500 miles on mine and 1300 miles on the wifes. 12 800 pros with not a single cord pulling. We have had them geared down from the start though. Also have had the clutches shimmed and aligned properly with an aftermarket belt adjuster on primary for side clearance and custom clutching. Even after several hard pulls I can still put bare hands on either clutch and hold them. I think the regearing is most important. Also we do not even have any aftermarket venting on either sled.

Maybe why the cat belt seems to be working better is because it's slightly longer and riding in the secondary higher with the proper deflection essentially gearing down the sled a little?
