Here's a photo of the denied warranty on the $200 belt with 150 miles. This was my 2nd belt. First belt got 515 miles before a cord pulled. I'm upset enough with the belt failing at 150 miles but this fix / resolution is ridiculous!! In so many words Polaris recommended cutting off the freyd cords and put it back on. There shouldn't be any loss in performance. Are you kidding me. Too much...

Dealer has belt. Not much to show in a photo... Cord pulled out. Dealer told me they have never had Polaris warranty a belt. Find that hard to believe... Entrust my life to a belt with a cord pulling out. Don't think so Polaris.

I cut mine and burn the small fray off and it runs fine. I seem to pull cord in 100 miles so switched to arctic 048 belt and no cord pulled yet after 150 miles.

I have never gone over 200 miles without a cord pulling on a 115. Even sent clutches out to have them machined, balanced and spider shimmed with no change. Both me and the dealer have gone through alignment numerous times and its good. I've had new motor mounts and torque link installed too, no change.

Stock gearing on the 163 is just to tall and that's where I'm going next.

Fyi, I have a few rides on a cat 048 belt and all is good so far. Equal performance and under half the cost of a 115. Time will tell if it lasts longer.

First belt on this 2013 163" was at 515 miles. My 2 2011 163's would get around 800 - 1000 miles and still look good but I would replace them thinking they had to be getting close to blowing.

I'll have to try the cat belt if these 1115 belts don't last. $196 is pretty steep.

By the way... I checked my engine mounts and all looks good there. I clean my clutches every few hundred miles +/-. I have had clutch side venting from day one, and usually open the side panels every time I take a break from riding.

When you look at a brand new belt, I have a hard time believing that those cords stay in there as long as they do. I have just cut the frayed cords off before and kept on riding . I does not seem to effect the performance.

Gear it down did mine way better!

Any low cost way to gear down a 163 with the quick drive belt system??

I think 7 tooth drivers would be cheeper. Not sure if it is enough of a ratio drop. Me and 4 others bought 14 pro 163. All of use pull cords in less then 80 miles. Not happy at all. Can't brake the quick drive belt, no prob there. Clutch belts life is just crap. Not very happy.

Spend another $99 and do the TKI. You can choose gear ratios and you have a belt tensioner which Kurt's doesn't. Also, there is a thread around here some where discussing failures with the Kurt's kit.

My bud has 800 hard miles on the Kurt's gear down and I have ZERO worries about it after seeing and riding it. And his clutch belt life tripled.

Also I believe the failure your talking about was a boondocker tunnel dump without a heat shield.

a pulled cord is not a blown belt if you are replacing belts when the cord starts to pull you are wasting your money, if you want to see a belt eater you check out some of them on my old m1000. you need a vaccum cleaner to clean out the belly pan sorry dude

Kurt's gear down kit at $600 is the cheapest.

I purchased Kurt's kit no issues ! 2:41 gears seem really good at :face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-sho 10,359 elv I believe reducing air temps with the Blow Hole power venting will extend belt life , after running hard in deep powder you can grab the
belt with near body temps slightly higher rids most belt dust ect , to control noise levels the factory install 5/8 foam to reduce the noise , from clutch ect EPA ! Also keep extreme heat in !
