blinking gauge/dimming headlight

I have a 07 600 carb. end of last season i noticed the gauge shutting off while idling. It turned back on when i got on the gas. Pulled it out of storage and same issue now. Any idea what is causing this? I eliminated a short in a hand grip, wiggled the harness, etc nothing helps. Could it be a bad stator or?

I had the same thing on my 07D700 RMK and this comes from a too low idle, adjust the throttle wire by turning on the adjuster on the wire itself. The adjuster nut can have winded itself down while driving, it can in fact wind itself so far down that you'll get the sled to start and idle but will die as soon as you give it some throttle.

Where was the short on the hand warmer? the fix for mine was to wrap electrical tape on the bar under the grip contact points.

I've heard when the headlight dims that the voltage might be bad.

They don't just dim, they cut and wont turn back on until you got 1700-1750 rpm's, and you'll see the voltage level in the display is way low when riding. And if this is the case you'll get a sour burning smell from the ECU right before it dies...been there, done that...:face-icon-small-dis

i have also had.. the engine is loaded up so bad..

Just when u start the engine!

Just waiting little bit.. yes waiting lol only 5-10 sec let the computer has to firgure out where the sled is.. on the flats or up high..

little revving.. and it clears right up..

my .o2

My 08 800 did the same thing. Voltage regulator went out and fried the ecm.
If it is the voltage regulator you can save yourself some money before it completely craps out and takes the ecm with it.
