such a bummin deal.. we stayed there last winter for the 1st time and had a hoot! we already had days booked this winter to come back..

Does anyone have the inside scoop to what the plans are for or any way to deal with these old cabins or hunter shelters etc… Seems to me that there should be some sort of push to involve all users to rebuild replace these sort of things as they break down even without a catastrophic event. Heard from a FS worker that FS doesn’t support them since they’re not “historic” Have they seen some of the old hunter shelters? And historic to whom? It would be cool to help rebuild and maintain the few of theses there are, or just start Dick Proenneke-n it!

A-frame

FYI, from FS reservation webpage....

Attention: Sadly, the Table Mountain A-frame was lost during the Table Mountain Fire. The fire started on September 9, 2012 during a lightning storm and burned about 42,000 acres. During fire suppression efforts the cabin received extra protection, but unfortunately the cabin was in an area of intense fire. Currently, there are no plans or funds to rebuild the cabin. The area closure for Table Mountain is still in effect. Burnt the cabin and deck to the ground, yet the picnic table and outhouse next to the cabin looked untouched??? Go figure.
