Black on Black

Polaris extreme it is. Lots of sand paper and polish and elbow grease :)

If a guy gets the Polaris Extreme bumper you have to do something to it. The natural finish it comes with is not the best. So Polishing it, painting it or powder coating is a must. You actually made it my favorite color............................................Shinny !!

If you're gonna "murder" it, go all the way. Loose the decals and leave the grills black

Did you paint the side panels flat black?? And what kinda paint did you use on them??

For those of you looking for ideas for color schemes. This is my 2011 Standard RMK. It came with a red hood and black side panels. I switched out the red hood for a black one and removed the red decals from the side panels. I also cut the windshield down about 3" with tin snips and cleaned it up with a bench grinder. I used small automotive vacuum hose for trim and sliced a slit down one side with a razor blade to make it fit over the edge of the windshield. Super glue to hold the trim on. So if you want this looks you could get some 2011 Standard side panels. I'll post a before and after.

I'm still considering removing the 800 decal or maybe both side panel decals and just leaving the white Polaris decal. Thoughts??

I got the hood from Babbit's for $107.00 shipped to my door. I did not order the $70 foam kit. I'm just going to use heat reflective tape in the spots where the foam was.

Here's the link for the hood: http://www.polarispartshouse.com/#/P...NS/86857/86866

Is the only part you needed the 1st line item for $90.19? That's cheaper than painting it.

Yes that is the only part you need. It does not come with any hardware whatsoever (i.e. spare belt holder, screens, 1/4 turn clips) You will have to swap that all over from your old hood. You will need a sharp #13 drill bit to drill out the two rivets holding the spare belt holder. Also will need a few torx bits (T,25, T27, T30 i think were the ones I used.)

The hood does not come with foam. I plan on using a little heat reflective tape in place of the foam on my new hood. The foam kit is $70, so... no thanks.

Whats the purpose of the foam anyway---heat deflection or insulation (sound or otherwise?) Will simple heat tape do the same job? I was planning on putting a wrap on the hood and have some concerns about heat effecting the adhesion of the wrap. But maybe I have nothing to worry about.
