Bikeman mod pipe

Ah Krave, relax man, we fell for the BMP and are now going strictly with stock PCV set ups . Can't find the best clutch set for the BMP (from them).
Anyhoo I enjoy your posts alot , i still will real world confirm info as I would hope anyone would my info. All in all it's been brown too long and we all need a 2 mile pull up a fresh 4 ft snowfall to wind us a bit IMO

Top Gun,

Agree with everything you said, I would ask you to just consider the following.

Put the dyno test results aside for a moment. Let's talk about real world testing. And I agree that if we were racing dynos yours would win kinda deal.

I've built several 9 and 10 second 1/4 mile drag cars back in the early 80's. If anyone knows about what works in the real world, it's me. I bought into a lot of hype in my younger days just to see the elapsed time on the 1/4 mile clocks tell the REAL story. The winningest car/driver in NHRA Pro Stock history is Bob Glidden. When they interviewed him they asked him where his dyno was and he pointed to the race car in the trailer, point being the ONLY thing that matters is what got the car down the track quicker. AGREED!

The majority of the gain from bolting a pipe on a CFI has been attributed to the aftermarket pipe leaning out an existing rich running sled. It's not so much the pipe itself as it is getting the A/F set-up dialed in. That's where the real world testing sometimes gets flawed.

Now unless you're monitoring all that data out there in the real world testing, as in having a $3100.00 Motec electonic control unit or A/F and datalogger on the sled as you're doing real world testing, how do you know the real facts are was it the pipe that made it quicker that my bud's or was it running a little rich before and now it's spot-on.

Now think about this guy^^^^^^^^^, there's a modded D8 with SLP pipe set-up by Struther's shop which has gotta be one of theee most well respected shops out there with 35 + years in business, successful multiple modded sleds/kits/combos sold over the years and always positive feedback about Carl's. I don't think you'll find many shops with more "REAL WORLD " experience that the Carl's Cycle team has.

Now, some guy comes along and says BMP made him even faster???? lol

Whose pipe(s) does Struthers sell/recommend and why??

Who do trust more with real world testing, Jack Struthers or the other guy??

Combine that with DYNOTECH showing SLP's pipe having significant h.p. advantage over the competition and a 10 foot pounds of TORQUE advantage over the competitor combined with the H.P. was over a very broad 400-500 r.p.m. band, very forgiving in real world conditions, making it easier to clutch, less likely for the motor to "fall off the pipe" in real world conditions, again.

Now, there's the real facts, now you can make your own decision.

Sounds like we have a similar background in racing as I too have been racing since the early 80's.....little off topic but here are a few of my cars:

But to get back to topic, I don't disagree with what your saying, thats exactly why I have both pipes on the floor right now. The BMP pipe mod ( for the dollar) if it works , is a pretty good deal for the guy that doesn't have the $800 canadian to buy the pipe. The Slp with its weight savings hp, torque rating is so far the better choice and what I will be running in the future but for now I want the stealth look without the programer ( don't want the opposition cryin about it). Coming off a turbo sled I know first hand what a/f means to a performance sled but for some riders messing with electronics is just not their thing, understandable.......as for me Pc V is just a matter of time I suppose.....
Other then that keep us informed on your mods, always a pretty good read........have a good one
