Big Bore paired with Indy long-rod crank, would this work?!

Porting, pipe and head is almost the same price as BB. I have a ported 2011 cfi 2 engine, not doing any porting ever again on my next sled. Waste of money.

Whoever ported your sled you should ask for your money back. Just some nice case porting wakes these motors up, then get the right pipe, pc5, high compression head if you up at high alt., then clutching. 1400 dollars and your done. Haven't seen any big bores for that.

RKT;3367750.... the kit I offer [B said:
IS a PISTON Kit[/B].. so, naturally the pistons are the source of the performance increase..

So are your pistons the same size (diameter) as the stock pistons? Or are your pistons sized to provide the proper cylinder to piston clearance?

Hey, how about that retract that you are glad to perform?

In answer to your question.. My pistons are very close to the same size as the stock pistons.. The stock piston also give proper piston to cyl clearance when new... the problem is that they do not stay the same size or shape for very long.. nor do the Wiseco pistons..

One needs to have pistons that will maintain their "shape" and size after continuous running and many miles.. this is where the difference lies...

Does your kit include a head as well or just pistons?

We have 3 different kits.. ALL 3 consist of pistons...again.. the stock PISTONS are the main issue.. so, that is what we address with EVERY kit..

You can install the pistons ALONE and realize the performance gains (since that would be the only change the gains can only be attributed to the pistons)

Same for the head.. you can install it ALONE.. so, the source of the performance can be easily referenced

Combine the head and pistons... and you can realize the gains from the combo..

3rd kit is the big bore kit.. We are very pleased with this kit..

I have seen no proof from you that I was mistaken. If I had a vested interest in this, I would spend some time and find the owners post. As I gave you enough to know their SW user name a simple search by user name would find it. You can then post it and I will follow thru.

We will likely always disagree on the stock piston to cylinder clearance being in spec when new.

Close is very relative, when we are talking hundreds of thousandths. So your "performance" is likely derived from achieving a better seal / fit with the cylinder (in your case an oversized piston by a couple hundred thousandths?). In so doing, any piston will live longer, as it is not slapping the snot out of itself inside the cylinder.

Of course this is solely my opinion as I have never held one of your pistons in my hand to measure one.

Tell ya what. if it is so easy to find, please find it.. I can not find what does not exist and I certainly KNOW the history of ALL my previous sleds.. and I can tell 100% that you are mistaken.. so, please take the "little" time needed and find this that you speak of.
Again.. can't find what does not exist.. so, it is really up to you.. please stay true to your word..

As for the piston issue.. I am not at my shop and do not recall the stock piston diameter... so, that is why I do not know if my pistons are the same or not.. I design ALL my pistons from scratch with no similarity or reference to the stock piston but I do know what my pistons measure. So, what is the stock piston size exactly?..

As for better seal.. yes, because the piston is designed better... but, like I mentioned earlier, the problem is NOT with the top of the piston as much as it is with the lower half.. The stock piston is a cheaply made piston that simply "morphs" into an undesirable shape..and THIS is where the problem lies..

Retraction Post

As I am a man of my word here is the one post I was thinking of and yes I was mistaken. It is a Bitc_ getting old.

"RK Tek User Results Thread III
Ran out of read-a-bility on that last thread and FINALLY had something to say so thought I would start a new one! I hope you all don't mind!

I've had a rough season of traveling and not having much time to troubleshoot some low power issues on my sled. I have a 13 motor in a 12 chassis and 12 electronics. RKTek drop in kit and everything else BONE stock at the moment (for troubleshooting reasons). Tried a MILLION and one fixes for my low power issues and it FINALLY came down to injectors.

So I got a ride on it this last weekend with new injectors (but nothing else really tuned in) and holy HECK this drop in kit flat works! Now I finally know what everyone else is talking about and I finally got to feel that freight train pull for a 'stocker'. SUPER stoked (even more stoked now cause figuring all this out means I can stick with this sled for next year and can afford to do a big bore!!!)

Anyway, thumps up on the drop in kit from my neck of the woods. I knew it worked from seeing my buddies machines but I hadn't gotten mine figured out (at NO fault of the kit!)"

I'm not sure whether I didn't read the whole post or what, but my memory was indeed incorrect on this post at least. My humble apologies to Kelsey.

Thank you for being a man of your word.. Maybe it is possible that your "memory" is failing you on some other issues as well??

Now, how about some "Snake Oil"? :face-icon-small-ton:face-icon-small-hap

I will respectfully decline, however if I have any issues with my fleet of Indy Dan Long Rod 800's and other Long Rod 797 engines I will consider your wares.

When the engine was opened for service it was no doubt why it didn`t work as it should, the porting was so bad u dont even want to know. I know that i wouldnt get any money back, so i didnt ask for that. When a tuner does a crapy job and is aware of just that, just to make some bucks.. Well, the only thing i can say is good luck in the future . Some day there will be a customer that is not letting go. I had a slp pipe, PAR head, shim kit and so on. But enough OT.

Shim get is sending you the wrong direction. These motors need crankcase help. It is a crapping design, should be fixed for 15 though.

I know, took that shim and timing key off and suddenly there was 7 more hp.. To get any hp of for example a timing key on a pro you need a touch of racefuel

I don't know what you guys know when it comes to two cycle engines but........I sold my 2009 800 Dragon RMK to a friend and he put the FIX kit in and all I can say is it had more power and ran smoother than my 2011 800 Pro. That being said, I would assume RKT's kit would have the same results.:face-icon-small-win

I too don't remember any bad words about any drop in kit. But with anything mechanical it will fail someday. Same goes with this stupid ( non mechanical) computer. :face-icon-small-con

That's not a bad plate of crow to eat after falsely stating that someone missed an entire season because of Kelsey's products.

Loudhandle apologized and even put up the evidence that he was wrong. Proving that RKT hadn't had any problems with reliability on their drop in kits. Personally I think an owner of a shop should always take the higher road, and not degrade any one even if they where talking poorly about the quality of the shop. Even if it gets bad the shop should just not comment on the post and let your customers reviews speak for you...

Agreed!

I guess while you see it as a degrading post I see it as a little ribbing and non offensive.

Honestly, where is the degrading remarks? other than the VERY disrespectful comments that were directed towards myself and my products??

Really guys???

I don't really bother getting involved in any forum squabble but it seems to me that rk-tek was pulled into this tussle by an unsolicited comment against him, and like all small businesses owners, this is how he supports his standard of living. I don't blame him for defending himself in what some fill is aggressive.
