Big bearing machining

What machining do they do on the case when you have a big bearing kit added? Is it just a bigger oil galley or what? cause the bearing should fit without any boring right? just curious on what all that intails?

bearing

NO case machining needed in most cases. Current design has 2 narrow bearings with a spacer in between. Wide bearing is the same width as both bearings and the spacer. The oiler drops oil between the bearing and the outer seal. The port from the cylinder to the bearing drops in on the inner bearing. Indy Dan drills that bigger I believe to get more lube in there.

Actually on an 800 case the hole down from the cylinder is not drilled except on some '00 cases. That isn't necessary to drill although while you have the cases apart its not a bad idea.

The machine that is done is to extend the oil oil out from under the bearing clear to the seal groove. The wide bearing will cover the hole and not let oil out. By cutting a little channel all the way out to the seal groove you make a spot for the oil to travel out and then get into the outer part of the bearing.
