I was one of the members of the group and it was stupid for us to be there. We all know better. The conditions were ripe for this to happen and all it took was for a couple of sleds to make a couple of circles on the bottom 30' to make this thing break loose. We were lucky that the layer that slid was only about 12 inches thick and it really broke up as it slid down the hill. Everyone can use this as a lesson that this crap can happen even when you think you're being careful and know what you're doing. The scariest thing is that this entire slide only took about 5 seconds from start to finish. Anyone who thinks they can out run an avalanche better think again because it was over before you could even process what was happening.

Location of slide

Will you give us the location of the slide, close to what trail markings, ie east side of mountian, just curious were it was. good information you posted as to how fast it happened and your thoughts. thanks .

There's your answer! glad you GOT LUCKY! next time listen to the avy foreacst AND that little voice in your head! they were both right! usually are too.

looks like the avalanche zone just north of the glacier, i cannot remember what it is called exactly.

Yes, East/SE Side of Rock Creek Knoll. Myself and 2 other riders were playing in the trees below the knoll not more than an hour before this happened Sunday. That face was ready to go with all the wind-loading. Glad no injured.
