Im thinking about new tires for the dmax. Its going to be 33 tall. Im thinking of the km2s cause they come in a 255/80r17 which is about 33" tall but not wide at all which should be better on snow and ice vs a 285 or 295 right? Anybody run these tires on hear how were they for overall performance on a tow rig and truck driven not quit daily but about 10000 miles a year. I have never gotten more then 40000 on any tire other then the bone stock tires on my dmax now. I would go with the duratracs but they don't have a 33 in a 17" rim that is a load range E.

Without any siping, that's not going to be the greatest tire in snow and ice.

Would rather go with a 285/70 Duratrac if it were me.

The Duratrac load range D is 3195 lbs, same max weight as the KM2 in load range E.

A guy i work with supposly had 37s km2s on his cummings and he said they were fine on snow, plus i was thinking the 255 would be a great width for mileage wouldnt affect mileage much.

Get a set of duratracs and be done with it

Are you sure those come in a D rating? I'm not second guessing you, but when I checked on that size for my F150, they were still a C rated tire which didn't excite me.

IMO the KM2 is a poor choice for a snow and ice tire, look at the KO instead. I am currently running both tires on a couple of rigs and the KO is the much better tire for snow, ice, wear, and noise.

Zr600,
I have the exact tire you are asking about on a 2006 f250 diesel. I wanted the tire for the same reason as you. I have 20,000 miles on mine and I love the tire. I put on about 24,000 miles a year. I will be buying another set when these are worn out. They look like they will get 40000 miles on these tires. I rotate them every 3000 miles. They are a better tire then goodyears. Compair the sidewalls.

This may be apples to cucumber comparison, but I have 33x10.50 KM/2's on my jeep. So far they have worked pretty well. I've had them out once in the snow on a wheeling trip, and in the slushy snow they were having issues getting traction until I aired down. That being said the jeep in front of me had half wore out 33x12.50's and was doing fine, so who knows?

Ok i went ahead and ordered a set of these in the 255/80r17. They are great for traction, i had them siped by discount tire. The only complaint i have is they are a little louder then expected but not bad im getting used to them, they are a lot louder then my previous duratracs. We just got our first snowstorm for the year we got 10" and i was able to back out of my driveway which is uphill gravel with about 12"s of snow in it with little slippage in 2wd. Around town they did good breaking and accelrating. Also we got freezing rain/sleet before the 10"s of snow. I will buy again if i can get decent mileage out of them. Lol the wife had to complain right away about how loud they were, and with the duratracs she complained they were ugly like a tractor tire. Lol if the wife isn't complaining about the tires i buy for my truck they must not be a very good set. So far i love these tires.
