Snocross star Blair Morgan severs spine in motocross accident
3 hours ago

MONTREAL — Blair Morgan, a star in the daredevil sports of snocross and motocross, suffered a broken back and severed spine in a motorcycle accident at a competition over the weekend, his team manager said Monday.

Morgan, 33, was taken to Montreal General Hospital after a crash during practice Saturday afternoon at the Montreal Supercross at Olympic Stadium, which was to have been his final motocross event of the season before switching to snowmobile events.

Dean Thompson, manager of the Blackfoot team, said Morgan's life is not in danger but the veteran racer from Prince Albert, Sask., was paralyzed from the chest down.

He is to spend 10 days to two weeks at the hospital before he is transferred to a facility in Saskatoon.

Thompson said Morgan's chances of recovering enough to perform again are "probably less than one per cent."

Take Care Blair, You were truly one of the great riders of all time!

We should all count our blessings, because it could happen to anyone of us at anytime. Enjoy life at it's fullest all the time.

Best wishes for Blair and Family.
Such sad news!!!!!!!!

it makes me sick to think about it. i've watched him race for many years, and all i can picture in my head is how he jumped. comes off the jump standing one foot forward and one back leaning over the bars a bit, jumping so gracefull. he was and is awsome rider. i have been reding up on stem cell research a bit, they do it in india and he may walk again he goes to get the treatment, other people have had succes.maybe this will open the door for it in us or canada prayer sent

So sorry to here this!
I didn't know him but I did love watching him ride, hope to see him again on a sled!!

This is from his race team website dates Oct. 12th http://www.bmrt.com/

Terri Morgan- In reflecting on the past week since our return to Saskatoon I would have to say that is has been bitter sweet for Blair. He has gotten to hug and cuddle the children as well as have visits with family.

Physiotherapy has been making him sore and very tired. As an athlete he acknowledges the pain and discomfort and has been working through it. The physiotherapists have been working with him to get stronger and have the ability to sit up for longer periods of time.

He has fully recovered for the initial trauma of the crash and is now working on rehabilitation and strength training to work with his body as it is now. He appreciates his friends and family’s patiiance with the limitations he has put on visitation until physio ceases to make it difficult to entertain visitors.

Tons of love going out to all those who are so supportive.

Hey Blair! You have inspired me and my boys and we have enjoyed watching you ride in videos! Extremely sorry about your accident! May God bless you and strengthen you at this time!

Hang in there!

Meyer Gang in Alaska!

What a terrible way to wake up!

My heart hangs lower today after learning of Blairs accident. Our prayers go out to him and his family.

there are two other former world champs that suffered the same fate.........wayne rainey (world champ 500cc grand prix) and david bailey (world supercross) both in their prime at the time of their injuries. walker evans son, evan, also has suffered this injury and is still racing CORR. it is a part of some of some of the sports we love. i'm shocked it hasn't happened more to the "x-games" guys. not too mention the injury that alex zanardi suffered. i wish blair perspective. i assume he has mental strength from watching him race, and i know he has love and support from his family and fans. i have many friends that have suffered the same injury, and they are among the most active people i know. it is a long, hard road with a lot of education. i wish him godspeed and know he will help a lot of people in the future. chris reeve sure did.

To Blair & his family,

You truly have inspired generations with your riding and how gracious you are with your fans. I am sorry to hear about your injury. I pray for you & your family....God bless
