best way to switch drivers

I am changing out my stock drivers with a different pitch and some anti rachets. what is the best way to get the old drivers off and the new ones on? Just from putting the new ones on the end of the shaft it looks like they are pretty tight going on there. Also what is the best way to figure out how far to put the first driver on? my thought was to mark the edge of the stock one with marker on the shaft. If anyone has a better way let me know.

well i have access to a press so that should be easy. I already have drive shaft out and sitting on the bench. I have the Wahl Bros drivers and they drive the inside/outside nubs and the track windows.

The stock drivers are inside of the windows, so the new ones will mount more to the sides.

ya sorry i misread your first post. I get what your saying. I guess I will have to wait till the track is here. I am pretty sure i have to press the first one on as far as it can go and then i can ust press the second one on relative to the first so it lines up in the track.

Before pressing the old ones off... mark the center of the driveshaft with a scratch awl....

When pressing the new ones on... make sure they are both an equal distance from the center of the shaft.

no I have never had the stock ones slip. The only reason I went with the antiratchets is because i went to a different pitch for a different track.

If you haven't considered it yet, you will also want to look at your OEM rail tips and check the clearance between them and the new drivers as they will be lined up with each other after install. Might have to trim and consider an anti-stab kit.

Did you go to 3.0 pitch & 7 tooth? With that combination on my Avids it was really tight getting the shaft back in due to the increased spread in the extros. Keep us posted. EW

When putting new drivers on take a srtraight edge along one end of the drive shaft, measure from the edge to the center of your driver do this for both drivers. then measure the center to center on the track window and change your first measurents by that amount.

have already cut my rail tips and installed an antistab kit. works great. rode it once before i got the kit and every bump the sliders would catch in the track windows. I went with the 2.86 8 tooth drivers. I ended up measuring the center on the stock drivers and just evenly spead the new ones out from the center mark. Ended up having to pull the entire chaincase to get the shaft back in because the drivers are spread father apart.
