Im thinking about buying a sled out of state, whats the best (cheapest) way to ship it. i guess meeting halfway is an option, but im not looking foward to driving 12 hours one way. Thanks Dave

Trucking firms aren't all that bad in the grand scheme of things, some one it crated back up or paletised for easing loading unloading from trucks etc.

I know the cheapest way is to buy out of state and pick up on the way to your destination if that is possible. Sometimes what looks good or sounds good in terms of the sale generally come to bite you when you get it all home and total up the true cost of getting the sled here.

I bought on the way home and it worked great, a buddy bought while out west after trying to work every which way to get that deal and have the sled at home. It just woudn't pencil out in the days of high fuel prices. Three or four years ago it would have been a lot easier.

You can have a trucking company ship it for cheap if it is shipped from a loading bay to loading bay.

Professional trucking have a metal reusable steel open box frame to secure the sled to plus they cover it with plastic.
All they require are the fluids drained and the skis on backwards to fit.

You can get quotes from places like www.uship.com.

If you know a motocycle / ATV / snowmobile shop they could ship from dealer to dealer. Happens all the time.

You can have them ship it, right to your door step pretty reasonable. I have a shop and a fork lift, so it has made things easy for me to receive freight. Some carriers will even have a lift gate, but still you would need at the very least a pallet jack. Look into Yellow freight, I've had very good luck shipping a couple motorcycles through them.........

Where do you want to ship from and ship to? I trucked for 20 years and i may be able to help you.
