Best way to get to the oil pump??

Just got back from a trip. Sled ran good. However, i went thru an entire tank of oil in roughly 80 miles. Happened two days in a row. Thinking my oil pump is stuck wide open. Whats the best way to get at this oil pump? Want to check and see if the cable is messed up or kinked and anything else that could go wrong that plays with the oil pump and carbs. Any info would be apprecaited.

Depending on what you have to do, you can go in from the mag side, or from the intake side.

Mag side youll wanna pull the exhaust can and the mounting bracket for it.

More room going from the intake side, but alot more to remove... Seat, tank, panels, airbox, TB's.

Id try to get a mirror down in there from the mag side and see if everything is connected/set correctly first.
 
Inspect all your lines as well. Their was a service bulletin for the oil line. Potential to rub on the bulkhead...
 
Right on, sounds good. i'll for sure try just the mag side first with taking off the can and bracket. Hoping just the cable pulled out of its housing and it stuck and all i got to do is put it back in. Thinking maybe when i put the injectors back in the cyclinders after installing the rkt drop in i might of possibly pulled it up to far. Thanks
 
The oil pump has a rod for a control mechanism.
Goes from the throttle bodies, down to the pump arm.

The oil pump arm should be pointing at roughly a 3' oclock position.

If the arm came unhooked etc, the arm would then swing down and end up pointing in like a 7-9 o' clock position if i remember right.

Did you have the rod disconnected from the throttle bodies at all when installing the drip in kit? If so I'd check this first. When you are looking at the sled from the back you have to actually rotate the pump arm back around counter clockwise to the 3 oclock position to hook it back up. I'm pretty sure it is possible to hook it up without winding back counterclockwise and this would result in it being stuck wide open. I've heard of a few guys doing this on accident when installing turbo kits. Its easy to miss if you aren't being careful

Very true! Forgot it can rotate all the way back around! When it does this, it has no spring tension on it...
