Best way to figure out shock length.

I put '12 RMK a arms on an assault dragon that had the 17 3/4" clicker shocks on it. I am thinking the shocks are to long now and want to get them shortened and use them again.

Question is, what's the best way to measure them to know what length to shorten them to? Or do I just shorten them to the '12 rmk length (17" I believe)

Thanks in advance

I think all assaults have 18.5" WE shocks. And the pre '13 rmks have 17.5" shocks.

But if I'm wrong, I would take the shocks off and support the front with a floor jack and lower to desired 'no load' arm angle and measure center to center distance.

The number I keep coming up with is 17". A good shock person will answer that quickly.

18.5 to 17 is a big drop. Might be better results with 12 take offs?
