best turbo?

Yes todd,,
The issues you are running into are all carb related.
The kit is incomplete as far as carb set up for pressurization goes.

I suggest you get at least a 2.0 aircorrection jet into them or take the oem one out and then determine the pilot jet needed.
As for just going to a smaller pilot ????? its so small now its telling you I"M NOT the problem !!

One other issue is the flaots in the oem flatslides.
They should be lowered but the only way to do it is to HEAT the plastic float lever and bend it...POOR to say the least...

You should try the Cat 900 high elevation needles too..

The real solution is to swap out the carbs to the OEM ski doo snocross carbs, They have all the stuff you need in them already, are very cheap to buy and will tolerate huge fuel volumes without even a burble..

for those I recommend,, 25 pilots, p4 needle jets, 270 mains power jet 1-2 turns out,, air screw at 1 turn.
lower the floats 1 mm from stock and enjoy..

800 versions came with 2.0 needle seats.
600 version come with 1.5s'
neeldes are the same

needle seats are oem mikuni rs type.

Excellent info, thanks! I thought the pilot was too small, but didn't really know where else to go....On your recommendations with the snowcross carbs is this for a 800 doo, or have you taken into consideration for the 900 I'm running. The 270's sound really lean, as I'm running 360's now and hitting 1300°F climbing at 2 turns on the power jets.

Good info....

Well, todd..
I did not take into consideration Larrys 900 kit.
In the feild both 800's are using 1 turn out and running 21 psi boost with afr #'s of 12.8-13.2....

These carbs are capable of keeping the bowl full under boost.
The oem flatslides have a very very samll bowl and a very High internal fuel level. they dont flow fuel well thru the needle jet thus the need for much much larger main jets.

Start at 300 if you like for safety sake.

needles in the middlle .

If you get newer 600 carbs with the electric power jet circuit, you will need to solder the the jet that feeds it closed.
This circuit requires voltage to keep it closed.. if you don't block the jet you will be pulling fuel at just off idle and really mess you up.

I can modify the carbs for boost for you in just a day.
cost to mod them is $50 each , then bolt on and go.

You obivously know what you are doing. PM sent.

Well Dave. Get that turbo on that XP so I can ride it and we might be doing one for me! I have had a serious itch for another one riding with you guys!:beer; I'll be do for a new sled next year anyway.

We will be looking into those soon to you know. I'm just a two-stroke guy and I'll let Ski-Doo get some issues worked out on the 1200 first. Gotta get some more money to buy one too and you now I never buy new so I have to wait till the used market opens up. Just got back from Rodney's working on the turbo XP it's still over there and he will be playing with the clutches tonight when he gets back. 15 psi and it beats on the rev limiter. Got to dig into the clutches more. I just glanced at them and the primary looks like it's swinging 19 gram pins.
Dave

I'm actually likeing the idea of doing a turbo on a 1200 doo next year!

You guys put the turbo on already? If you talk to me really nice I might provide the project sled next year. :D Are you going to be ready to ride the XP this weekend? We're supposed to get another 2 feet of snow tonight and tomarrow!:D

D sorry i wasn't trying to get in your face. the net and texting is just bad at expression and emotion if you are not a english teacher. I just wanted to get in your mind and see if there is any new things i should be trying. We have tried the other carbs and work very well but it is just one more thing for a customer to buy. we always try to run it as close to stock as we can. You really ahve to decide where to draw the line and where your nitch is. Call me i can give you some other things to look for.

Thanks for the response Bryce as I did not want this to turn into something bad. We are trying to keep the cost down and the simplicity of the kits at the level most would be able to do the install themselves. There are so many different ways to build these kits useing different components that we just want to use the minimum parts required to get the job done for us and for the customer. After our testing yeterday I feel my mind is made up of what mods and parts we will be useing. Now it's time for an install on my wifes sled so I can get more testing done through out the week before all our snow is gone.

Hope you showed good @ Fairview:beer;. I didn't make it again this year. With our blizzard I don't think I could have left town.

I just wanted to thow some water on a potential fire between myself and Bryce @ Turbo Performance. I want to let everyone know he has contacted me and was concerened about the words and phrasing he used in an earlier response that myself and others took as harsh. I'm not thin skinned but I wasn't going to let the post turn bad either.

I want to say that everything is cool between myself and Bryce @ Turbo Performance as far as anything I know that is/has been said on this public forum.
