Best Turbo Setup For The Nytro

Just my 2 cent's
The "Best turbo kit" is like asking for the "Best pipe" for a dirt bike, or "Best tire" on a sport bike, how about "Best track" for a sled
Its more like
The "Best kit FOR YOU"
I have always said Every sled has it's day, it's the same with turbo kit's

Just finished my MPI S/C install today. Like the other guys say, MPI did a great job in engineering the kit. Easy install!!! Kit weights 22lbs, took off 8lbs in parts and need to change the muffler out which weighs 13.1 LBS. Pretty much a wash.

Unlike a lot of you my turbo experience is only theoretical. Ordered my Nytro and Turbo on the same day last March.

On paper it seemed obvious to me that the research and developement that McXpress puts into their products gives them an advantage.

I like the idea of the rear mount for the simple reason that it seem more difficult to burn down a sled. Is it true that there is a check valve for the oil tank in the event the sled tips over and the engine continues to run ( the check valve prevents oil from pumping out and catching fire on the hot turbo)?

I am working on putting miles on my sled prior to turbo install. So once again my knowledge is only from watching friends and the reading I've done.

Here is a link to the Mcxpress web site. You may have already seen this, pretty cool!

On a S/C the charger maybe 8-9lbs,intercooler is lighter than the stock air box.All other parts might be 5lbs at most. Minus all the parts taken off the stock machine during the install, basically evens everthing out!The biggest weight I took off was the muffler, installed a jardine pipe.so basically my sled should be lighter than a stock nytro only with 280 horses to go with it now.

Even if it is heavier which i doubt!! with 280 horses who cares. It'll go more places than I want to.

Who cares ?????? ride a light weight sled with the same power and you will start to care:eek:
We have a bunch of guys with super-light 1250-cc crazy mountains and stuff like that , you show of with power alone and they will whoop your ***, leading you into technical shoots -willow and tree runs etc.
They Have made a art of how to beat up on overconfident boost boys.
The only way you hang with them is if your sled is super-light and dialled in 100%
Why do you think the top riders spend more money on building a lightweight sled with top of the line suspension components than on boost?

hey darko, what are the hp numbers on the nitro with 18lbs of boost? how does it compare, ride and what not, to your apexes?

p.v.

powdermuncher,

I'm not out there climbing against the best riders,I'm riding with friends having a good time.I understand the whole light weight thing,But if I was all that worried about weight I should probably hit the gym, before spending thousands of dollars on sled weight.Believe me I've rode all the lightweight stuff on 2 strokes and I know what a diffrence it makes, but recently on my nytro i've climbed stuff with my s/c I wouldn't even look at before on a lightweight 2 stroke. This year i spent the money on power, next year I'll probably get some weight off!!! I just got to do what's best for me,so sorry I chose power!!!Plus the wife would kill if i spent any more money on light parts.Everything in time,I'm not rich like some people!!!!Although i'd like to be!

Thanks for your input though.
That's why I like this site everyone can add there 2 cents,it's why we are here.

As far as a supercharger goes,It's AWSOME!! I installed it myself over a couple evenings, with very very good instructions i should add.MPI has really done their homework on this one, clean and simple install.Oh also the price was about half what a turbo would have cost me,I know I priced both out when I was wondering which way to go.I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT.The only problem is I'm sad that the build was so easy to do,know I have nothing to do!!!Except hit the throttle and hang for dear life. This thing has instant throttle response and all the power I'll ever need.I'm climbing shoots I'd never even look at on my M7 with nos.And I'm climbing the shoot at half throttle bursts!!!! WOW!!! All you guys keep on waiting for your turbo's and your dealer to install them for you!!Until them I'll enjoy all the untracked snow all to myself!! Or step out of the box and install a super today and I'll ride with you tommorro!!!Either way any boost is better than NONE at ALL,So everyone have a great year and just be happy we can finally ride. NYTRO'S RULE!!! ESPECIALLY BOOSTED ONES!!!

Did MPI do a better job placing the air intake on the Nytro?? The Apex was under the innercooler  Stupid if you ask me... At trail speeds it's ok but boondocken through the trees your sucking 300 dergree hot air.

Wow! had a stage 2 on my Apex, couldnt sell it fast enough, added 20lbs to the worst spot of the sled very tip of the nose, had big time problems with fuel management. long story short, lost around $4000
Had a bad experience with the MPI blower, installed a turbo and will never consider the S/C again.
Sounds like yours is running good...best of luck.
