Narrowed selection down to 3:

Powder keg with new shovel lid option
Sled solutions e series
Burandt new flyer bag

I want removable and watertight with enough storage for extra shovel and appropriate emergency gear. Please leave your shovel comments elsewhere.

Which is best in your experience. I listed them in order of cost with PK being the most. Thanks

Looked at all of them last weekend at the snow show and went with the burandt bag. Liked the size, storage capability and mounting system the best. Plus got it for $110.

E series bag is great. I have had mine for 2 seasons and it looks like new. Fairly water tight as well. I cut the straps and added some plastic blocks so I could use the tunnel slots. Very clean install.

Any pics/details on how you did this? I'm very interested in the e series bag but didn't want to drill my tunnel.

Went with the Powder Keg with the new lid that holds a shovel, saw, fire starter and flashlight, even got a drink holder!

Powder keg with gas can and storage combo it's a little pricey but worth ever cent

I sold my powder keg. Not a fan. Maybe on a work sled for ice fishing and snow camping but mountain sled? Nah, not crazy on the 13-14s have to drill 12 holes in tunnel sides. If you want huge amounts of storage and need 10L of fuel on you all the time and you want stuff to stay dry, its your container.

I had the large Burandt bag last season and it would always have at least one tab out of the t slots every ride. Plus it's not water tight not even the sealed off bags inside. So I went with the mountain addiction with the t slot mounts. I ran the Burandt bag for over 800 miles. And the mountain addiction for 600 ish. And With the mountain addiction hard plastic bottom and being rasied off the coolers it seemed to be dry but I still put gloves or sweater ect in freezer zip locks. Just my experience.

Based on the product description for the Burandt flyer bag they didn't change anything from last year. I have last years bag and it leaks like a sieve, even the supposedly waterproof pockets in the lid (top). I wouldn't recommend this bag to anyone who wants to keep their stuff dry. Plus, it's not very easy to get the bag on, and even worse to get off when it's iced up.

Does the shovel blade attach to the top ? Could you post a picture maybe ?

I have the original and I love it. that looks even better . How is the storage?

Hands down, the e-series bag. Love mine, and it is in the made in the USA.

Burandt bag is made in China, or India, or some crappy place like that.

Water Tight? Or Waterproof? The bottom two are waterproof, but we have gotten moisture in both of ours. The top was the most water tight but is the bulkiest and most expensive. 6 with one and Half A Dozen with another. All great options though, just nothing that is all three things needed yet, smaller, completely water proof, and affordable.

Mountain addiction stuff is great, no drilled holes, lots of options.... Only downside is expensive and the bags are ugly boxes on your tunnel.

Did you put wet gloves or something wet or icy in the bag? E-series are waterproof, I never had any issues, but i never stick wet items into bag because it allows moisture to transfer to other items since the bags are waterproof and not breatheable from the inside out. also be sure and store the bags OPEN at home in the shop. so whatever moisture is in there drys out and doesnt come back next trip out. I have had cardboard food boxes in my bags for 3-4 days of riding before and no issues of them getting wet... but Utah is a drier climate than WA and north idaho...

I found that even with water proof bags it's best to take them out of an enclosed trailer. I would use my bag and then leave it unzipped in the trailer and the condensation would build up in it. I guess you just need to take them out of the trailer but forget and there will be moisture in there.

Phatty, I'll thank you if you hook me up on a discount for that eSeries Elevation bag! I'd like to do that bag but it's not a drop in the bucket in terms of cost. Maybe this thread is a lesson in getting what you pay for.

You can never have too much storage. The center bag is a sled solutions Water Proof Powder Pak. Its expandable, removable and requires no holes drilled.
None of these bags require drilling holes. They all mount with the t-bolt track. Eric

storage experience

I've had a powderkeg for 3 years now. It has never failed on all our trips to Wyoming. Very durable. Easy to open/close (no zippers to ice up). No holes to drill to mount it to tunnel (I don't know about the new ones). The quick-release locks on the sides are extremely secure (have never popped open--not once!). It is very versatile. Holds my tools, sandwiches, drinks, gloves, etc. All dry. It took me a while to bite the bullet on the higher price, but I have never regretted it. Quality is worth the price!
