Don't know which tire is the best, i bought a new featherlite in 05, put on about 40'000 miles in 5 years on the tires for work and pleasure, we use this trailer alot. At 5 years 40'000 miles one of the tires just started coming apart so i replaced them with Carlisle radial trail tires and have been happy with the performance so far. Last year we went from MN to Atlanta to Dallas to Las Vegas (work) and then on to Island Park for snowmobiling with a stop in Kingman Az for some wheelin!
Trailer tires are different than car tires, stiffer sidewalls and also have a lower speed rating, they are really only rated for 60 to 65 mph! So the next time you are haulin a$$ down the freeway at 80+ tryin to be the first one to the pow and everyone is sleepin, ask yourself, "How are the trailer tires doin back there"?
I have them on Aluminum rims and i do have them balanced.
The oem tires where Good Year Marathons.
Here is some interesting reading,
