best sled for colorado?

I am looking for sugguestions on the best sled for colorado riding.

I am brand new to snowmobiling, and i realize there is no best, however, I am hoping to get good recomendations for the area and type of riding i will be doing.

i live in northern colorado, so rabbit ears and snowy range are my closest, i will also be driving out to gore, grand lake and vail.

I plan to sled ski, and trail ride with the occasional low angle bowl.

I am thinking ski doo or polaris, as they seem to be most common in my area.

I'd like somthing that can be maintained for years, and was looking at the RMK type sleds.

I wanted artic cat king cat 900 as a first choice, but do not see many artic cats in colorado, then was the RMK, followed by the summit.

Is there a prefered sled here in colorado that i would be better off with, for ease of mantinance, redilly available parts, reliability, etc?

I am new here, and looking for advice, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Come get it! $4500. It's the King Cat you were looking for and it's as nice as it looks. :face-icon-small-hap

Kind of a loaded question. There is no "best" sled for CO. Do your research and get what fits your budget and intended use that you think is the most reliable. Every sled has it's issues but there are a few turds you really don't want. A KK would not be a bad choice. One of the better sleds as dar as older chassis go.
I wouldn't sell yourself short on hp is the only thing. Riding at 10kft zaps the power pretty good. If yore staying stock I'd reccomend a 800 min.
Personal preference if you got $5k+ to spend would be a 09-up M8.

I do not have a budget.

I am trying to figure out how to spend the best money.

If i buy an 02 sled with 9000 miles on it for 2k, what kind of trouble will i have with it in the first year, or even on the first day? rebuild? more?

so, i then thought, what about 5-7k om a 08 sled with 1000 miles on it,? hopefully get a season or two out of it before it NEEDS work,

or, go brand new, and be responsible for my own riding, nowing i'll get years out of it with a good maintinance record.

I think right now, I am going to go used in the 5k reange and hope for a full season out of it, with minimal repair, and a good maintinance, I hope to get into a reliable sled.

I am trying to avoid the sled that is about to fall apart that the guy wants to unolad it, and hopfully find a good sled at a good price.

I am staying away from craigslist, here in colorado, we get lots of junk before you find a good one, any other places to look?

thank you all

If you are in the $5-6K price range I'd look for an 09 or newer Arctic Cat M8. Stay away from the Polaris IQ 800.

I always thought the Polaris 600 would be a good fit for less aggressive mountain riding. They seem to be bullet proof and run forever with little maintenance.

IMO it would be a good sled for your needs. You should able to find a used model a few years old for a decent price.
