Best sled decks

If you want the very best, you have to build it yourself, then you'll have no complaints.

Exactly.
I looked at all the decks, and combined the best of them all.
I wanted more room to haul chit under them, so I wouldn't have to keep anything in the cab. I have yet to see one that can store a 5 gallon pail and have a rolling cargobed under also.

does anyone build one that you can put into a fifth wheel mount to hold it ??????

Thats the BEST DAMN IDEA I'VE HEARD IN A LONG TIME! I've got a silver lakes manufacturing from moto mikey and they are the ****! Great strength, nice welds, beautiful diamond plate look, marker lights, I mount via turnbuckles on my four bed hooks, but of course I drive a ford not a dodge so mine are strong enough to hold and not made of plastic!

Sorry had too dodge guys, just cause its the truth and it hurts. he he

But do like the idea of have a fifth wheel type mounting setup so I could use my rails and just pull the four pins to take it in and out.

GREAT THOUGHT!

Marathon Rocks!

I have over a month on my new Marathon deck and love it!
I always thought a deck was a deck until I got a new Marathon!
These guys have their own extrusions made so it a totally professionally designed and built deck. I've seen the other decks and none even compare in my book.
They bolt down through the bed for security, feature SuperClamps and SuperGlides, expandable sides and NOW an extension for the back that lets you add 2 feet more to your deck and you can just fold it over when you don't need it. The deck is adjustable for long or shortbox trucks. I really love the extending ramp. Now the ramp angle is really easy to drive up, you don't have to worry about falling off the side of the deck. The ramp also has lock tabs that won't let the ramp fall off on uneven ground. The decking on top is sealed so water can't get through and drip all over your gear stored underneath.
They also have a bar that slides over the sides that you can hook the ramp to. I was able to drive my Rhino up the side and park it sideways on the deck and then move the ramp to the other side and drive it off!
With the extension we we're able to drive a Polaris Ranger with tracks onto the deck and it fit!
We will have a full feature on Marathon decks in Mountain Mod Mania 6!
So if you want the best, look into Marathon!

Do you think this is going to be a big year for sled decks with the price of fuel? I think last time I figured it, the fuel mileage was in the middle of empty and pulling a trailer, (small trailer) that is a big difference when you look at $5 a gallon diesel.

We will be starting to build decks and taking pre orders very soon, we are working with an engineering firm on some upgrades to the ramps and on a way to make the decks lighter but keep the strength we built into them last year. We also have a few other minor upgrades and changes coming this season that I think everyone will really like.

Look us up if you are interested in a deck this coming season, our decks are the best thing going built in the US that is comparable to the Marathon design and function plus we have added several little things for added comfort.

I bought one of sled169's decks at the beginning of the season and it is great. The expandle sides are so easy, just pull a pin! the telescoping ramp worked awesome with the ski glides. The only constructive feedback I will give169 is to find a better mounting system for the rear brake light. the stivky on there wore off from the cold. also on the rear support were the ramp hooks on, there is only 2 supports on this bar. I was loading my buddies ski doo with a bent skag(which i didnt know about) and it caught the ramp and flipped me over the bars and indented the reae bar. I would suggest putting for supports spread out evenly on it for the new one. Best deck for the money. Superclamps rock

Thanks for the info we will for sure look into those issues you speak of. We are looking to change the rear mounting system fo rthe ramp to allow the ramp to be used better and I will look into the rear light issue. Thanks again.

we got a full-lotus deck works great its telescopic so you in bring it in for one sled or have it out for two...its made so we can still have the tidy tank in the back and a lid so we can get tools outta the drybox. heres some pics of it.

if I ever get crazy and put one together, imma build it out of parframe... stuff's pretty light, extruded aluminum, and tough as all hell. Used it to build up the frame for some motion control stuff I did a few years back... . There's all kinds of accessories for it, from doors/latches/hinges to fittings for running compressed air through the stuff. I bet you could put a solid deck together outo f that stuff and have the whole thing weigh under 300lbs...

we've built 2 decks out of wood though out the years. materails less then $50 8 2x6 and 2 sheets of plywood. in chevy box you have them 4 pockets on each side that you can set a 2x6 in. you cut 4 boards to sit in those pockets. cut 8 risers about 1', and then cut your 4 top boards, and put your plywood down. tie it down by cuting hole in the plywood up front and center. take a 20' tie down strap and go around inner skies on both sleds and run both end back to under tail gate and hook under tailgate to the bottom edge of box. real slick set up for $50 and less then a hour to build. if you want you can put 2x4 around the edge on top. the first one we built a ramp, just a sheet of plywood 2x4 bracing under neath and 2x4 sides. got a 4 big hinges to mount the ramp and took the pins out when mounted and just shoved a screw driver in the hinges when we loaded. the ramp slide in on top of lower supports. the second deck we made didn't have a ramp loaded at home with backhoe and loaded in west on snow bank. this year i'm going have the local welding shop build me a nice one. I just can't see that it will cost much more then $1500. you could buy a new 8x10 trailer take axle an tounge off and mount that for a $1000. any one have plans.

Another vote for MOTOMIKEY!!!!!!!!

Motomikey's is the lightest while still beign the most sturdy that I've seen.
Very easy to load by yourself.

The full lotus is a POS, I have one. Not nearly enough lateral support (the marathon comes with the bracing that the lotus should), mine sways from side to side like a drunk belly dancer.

The custom is also a great deck, equal (or better) quality to the marathon, but less $$.

For the $$ though, Mikey's for sure.

Two years on my marathon deck and I'm still very happy with it. Everything from sleds, bikes and quads have been on it. Nice, light and strong, I love it!

Motomikey's!

By far the best decks we have used or seen are Silver Lake Manugacturing decks - Motomikey's! These are the offical deck of the Extreme Team Riders. The features of these decks are awesome. The construction / welding can't be beat, the bracing under the deck allows for lots of room for storage in the bed of the truck - after running this deck all winter and the 1000's of miles of harsh use we put them through they still look brand new.

I run the bobtail deck and love it. The 2 piece ramp (short box truck) works great and is easy to handle even for 1 guy. The deck is also fully lighted with running lights and is the lightest deck I have personally run.

Another in our group runs the model with the extendable sides and it is an amazing deck. When he isnt hauling his sled he just slides the sides in, they have worked flawless all winter - even with all the snow and ice on them - I have been very impressed!

Another note, Motomikey (Mike) is one of the best with customers, he treats people great, stands behind his products and has excellent prices. You won't find a better guy.

Give him a shout on here, he will be straight up with you and treat you right.
