Best Skis for XM?

Looking at either a set of Sly Dog 8" powder hounds or C&A MTX skis

what is better?

also sometimes i do ride around ND in will slydogs handle some smaller amounts of snow or will they wear bad?

I like the stock skis too, but will probably try something different for next year. Anyone running the Curve Mtn skis?. Looking at those and the C&A mtn.

The Polaris Gripper skis can be modded to fit and are a relatively cheap ski with all the take offs. I am putting a set of my extras on my wifes 2012 XP next week. There is a thread on dootalk that has some discussion on it. I have been pretty impressed with the stock gripper skis on my pros.

What are the improvements?

Having ridden the same sled before & after cut PP's, they sidehill much easier. For ME they seemed to get rid of the nervousness of the XP (still more effort than I liked, but made the XP I was riding much "smoother")

Ski theory is the same whichever sled you're on though... a ski with a wide square back will fight you in shallower snow conditions, adding to the place where the xp/ xm chassis sees the most difficulty imo.

A ski like the PP, mods, USI TT... all make that effort decrease, and lessen the feeling that the skis are fighting to straighten back out.

In super deep though... sh**, any 2x6 will do the trick as long as it's got some rocker :D

I loved MODS on my Rev, for pow, holding carves, holding sidehills, etc. They were probably a bit more pushy on the trail however.

Not sure how they work on XP / XM, but should be similar with Doos aggressive "rider forward" design.

Purely aesthetic but these are the Ski-Doo DS2 skis in black/white. I put 'em on to tie into the wrap

I find slydogs when you are side hilling they try to turn you up the hill, other then that I like them in other situations. But they dont hold up very good and within 3 rides the handle on the ski broke. They sent me a knew one but still not happy on how fast they broke. Also the carbides were very hard to get to fit into the ski and I had to bend them to go in. I do like the skis, but I wouldnt buy them again as they have there flaws.

The C&A Pro XTX Skis would be a good choice for your crossover application of powder and trail riding on your XM. Typically the MTX skis perform better on the 4-stroke sleds with a little more weight to them.
