Best ride of the Year!

So it's July and all I can do now is think about riding and some of the sick deep pow days last winter. I'd have to say the day that stands out most was a day at Lost Lake when the snow was chest deep and it was Blue Bird all day... but I wouldn't mind hearing about everyone elses best day and where it was and maybe i will see which place had the best overall riding last year.

Every ride we went on was a great day just to be out there and riding. Was an epic snow year for our area and there were a couple instances where we wished we had bought the 155"ers instead of the 144" 600's. I think we had about 20 days out there and only 1 day had sucked where we brought along a rookie to the hills, and he was stuck more times than I would care to count.

One day at petersville .

LoL , I was out of gas 20 miles from my truck that day . Good times .
There's plenty of trees in Alaska , no probs there , this was just one of those trips to the foothills .

disgusting....absolutely disgusting!! That looks like totalitarian BLISS! thanks for that post in the middle of July!! LOL

I dunno a tie between febuary in turny and spring riding @ LL, but as a whole last year rocked and hope for some more of the same. A little more snow north wouldn't hurt, just started builing a cabin @ mile 121.

It is hard for me to really classify ONE ride as THE best ride of the year. There were sooo many that I reminisce about - probably doesn't help that it is part of my screen saver on the computer and EVERY Tuesday is a reminder on the big screen...

I have had the privilege of riding with some amazing people amidst the most breath-taking scenery in the state. I have seen growth and bravery, incredible feats and talent coupled with injuries, mechanical failures and catastrophes - inflicted by nature and man. I learned the universal sign for "tree," discovered a lot about my sled, myself and the people I ride with. Sorry for busting a nut - and yes it is a lot lighter without all the gear.

Not taking anything for granted... I appreciate every ride I took last year ~ even the ones that sucked lol Here's to doing our snowdances for 08/09... get started early. Global warming can shove it... Bring on the pow for the sickest deepest winter the 907 has ever known. Summer sucks ~ Here's to winter!! See ya guys (and gals) in the pow!!!

If it makes anyone feel any better, a co-worker said they had a friend out on the Denali Highway that reported snow 1/3 down the mountains the other day from these storms...Rock sled ride anyone?

I would agree on Lost Lake. I think the best ride was breaking in my new sled and getting a suntan in 20 minutes at LL. Also, learning to mountain ride has changed my life. Others would be dialing in the polaris mods up north, and exploring the backcountry Talkeetna Mountains (North and South of the Kashwitna River).

I think the best ride of this year for me was a weekend in squirrel flats, it was one of the best rides of the year and one of the last with my good friend Riley Mcvity who passed away last week after a car wreck by Bird Creek. RIP Riley and it will be an empty riding year without you...

Some pics from the ride, Drew (AKTURBO) has a ton of pics from that weekend that I hope he will post up, lots with Riley as well...he rode a renegade rev with green side panels and white hood and rode every weekend, I'm sure plenty of you either knew him or saw him out riding this year. He's in the background on the table top jump..you never know when the last time you will see someone might be guys, make every moment count with the ones you love and care about.

So many good rides this year its hard to pin point a single ride as the best. Each time out is a new experience with some of my closest friends and always eventfull. I have to agree with chad(iqrider), squirrel was hard to beat last year. Hears a few pics from a few of the rides this year and a couple of Riley who will be missed my me and many others after his traggic accident, RIP.

Rley...RIP!
