Best Quality Side Vents

My vote is for any of the vents where the mesh is attatched to an aluminum cage.
I bought SLP vents which are caged, this way you can cut out the entire area instead of drilling holes and get the most benefit from them.
They actually strengthen the side cover.
I don't recall seeing the fine mesh on the clutch side, but I have never had issues with snow getting on the clutches.

I went with the 2cool vents. If durability from branches is a real concern for you, the gills are the best you can do... nothing to rip.

I do beleive you can order prefilter material from the clutch side to stop any snow from getting in and on you clutches.

Personally i did not like the style side vents with the ribbing on the outside of the mesh. Too much of a snag concern. But the vents with the ribbing inside like the 2cool have a really course outer pet screen mesh and a fine inner prefilter material that even stops water vapor.

I destroyed a set of slp flowrite vents in 3 rides. I do not recommend these unlessALL of your riding is above the treeline!!!!

So it looks like it is down to either the 2cools or the Boondocker style that Slediot has. They both are nice. It seems the Boons would be by far the strongest but if/when getting stuck it looks like snow would still be able to work its way into the engine compartment. Is it possible to put a sheet of frogskinz behind the Boon style vents and have the best of both worlds?

The boondocker gills come with a mesh material that you put behind the vent before the install. Works great...........

Went with xxmodrods vents. Cheap and worked well on my 7.

Are you talking about the actual aluminum cage side cover vents?
Or the round flowrites?

This will be the third year with my slp's... Close to 3000 miles all of which are in trees, boondocking, sled on its side, etc.
There are some marks on them, but no tears or signs of wear.
Not sure what brand my brothers are, but he has 4 or more seasons on his.
Never seen someone tear a set.

MoFlow are awesome vents had them on my old sled and now on the new sled great quality and great price!:D:beer;

i've had fastlanes on my m7 for 2 or 3 seasons now with ALOT of tree bashing, boondocking and a few tumbles down some tree covered slopes and not one tear or issue with them nor have i ever snagged a branch on the frame of the vent. still look like new other than the green tree bark rubbed on them, to bad i cant say the same for the frogskins on my hood vents.

my brother has 2 cools on his m7 and i havent seen his sled in a while but i dont recall him ever mentioning any issues with them. however my buddy has vents from mountain magic in preston and the rivets keep popping out and the aluminum frame is all bent to hell and skiwhompus. from seeing that i dont think i would ever buy any with the aluminum frames, the plastic ones seem to handle the flexations much better.
