Best Place to Stay in Winthrop area

We are thinking about taking a trip up to the Winthrop area for some riding in late Feb or early March. It would be a family trip with some very young kids (1 and 2) going along so it would be nice to have a place to stay that is not too far from town so that whoever is watching them for the day could go into town to mess around for a few hours while the others are out riding.

Would we be best off just staying at a motel in town or is there a nicer lodge or cabin rental type place out of town that would work? Would like to have a hot tub available and ample parking for large pickups and enclosed trailers. Would probably be 6-8 adults in group plus the two toddlers.

We don't want to worry about dishes and cooking so we would either eat all meals in town or like a place that has food service available.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!:)

The coolest place to stay with lots of room for trailors, that has nice little cabin style rooms with kitchens is the Wolf ridge resort 509 996 2828. They have a hot tub but you will have to drive about 5 mi to Winthrop for food. Pricey but cool. Stay away from Sun Mtn lodge, it's a joke unless you have unlimited funds and want to drive 25 min to town.

The Virginian is in town in Winthrop and has room for trailors, a hot tub ( I think), a restraunt and a bar and you can walk to other food and the Red Apple. There rates are good also. The Rio Vista And the Duck Brand are in town but have limmited room. The Duck Brand is the best food in Winthrop.

In Twisp, there is a little dive motel right on the edge of town as your heading twards Winthrop. They have lots of room, Sepperate little rooms but no hot tub as far as I know. The best food in the valley is by far, no doubt, The Twisp Brew Pub on HWY 20 and yes, you can bring kids in till 8:00. They have great live music on the weekends and kick arse beer and are super friendly.

The best riding is the Goat peak area or off the road to Conconally. Washington/Rainy pass and Harts pass are just ok. The loup is ok off hwy 20 and so is the Navare area up Gold creek rd or Black Canyon rd. Have fun.

ericbigbore,

You sure have some vast knowledge of the area for living in Covington! Did you used to live here...?

And the riding here sucks, we still show dirt in our mountains, no snow, might as well stay home.

Everything he said. Also, there are some homes to rent nightly for a little more cash.
