best place to power gauges on a nytro

Where are people connecting the power for their aftermarket gauges. I have a digital boost gauge and it works great sometimes and other times it is way off. I have it powered from a empty slot in the fuse panel on my 08 Nytro. I have read some wires are not good for powering gauges, any thoughts? The one I used is switched from the key, it is powered only when the motor is running.

I used the DC outlet jack for powering the guages. Only comes on when sled is running though. Had some weird things happening when going off the ignition wires, like sled trying to start when turning on switch to AFR guage :face-icon-small-sho

I have the rtx with rail extensions, I dont have the DC jack, Are there wires hanging somewhere that would go to the jack if I had one?

Use a relay and use the key on power source to trigger it located in the grey harness going to your key. Run the red relay power to the battery and the other to your gauge and of course ground it with the ground wire.

I had an 08 that didn't come with the DC jack but the other plug was on the sled. It should be a two wire white plug with yellow/black stripe and black wire. Yellow is power. The plug is located on clutch side right beside or behind rad.

Nytro guage wiring

I had installed an AEM digital boost guage and found the readings change with elevation. With the key on engine off it would read 0 at sea level and show - numbers at elevation. So you would always have to make a calculation to know the true boost number. I removed the AEM and installed an Autometer manual guage which will always auto zero.

I had the same issue with my autometer digital gauge too and had to change the wiring to like Motley explained. The digital gauge needs to power up and auto zero before the engine starts and idles producing vacuum. I really like the digital numbers and easy to view at a glance.

maybe im missing something. wouldn't it still power up with the relay when the motor starts?
