I live in Detroit and fly into Denver just about every weekend. Flights are $40-200 round trip since I don't check or carry on bags. My buddy from Florida flies in and meets me at DIA.We leave a truck at long term parking and drive to steamboat where we have a good friend to stay with. Been doing this for about 5-6 yrs now.

We get to ride buff, RE, black, CP hahns, etc.......

I live in Minneapolis and have been taking trips to Eastern Wyoming for years now. Starting to really dislike the drive and thinking about renting something where we could leave the trailer for the winter and fly in/out of Denver. What would have the best riding within proximity to Denver? Any other ideas along these lines? You can get flights for under $200 from Minneapolis to Denver. Thanks.

I have been doing this for 6 years now I think. We store truck in commerce city and trailer in laramie. 30 bucks per month for truck and 35 per month for trailer. Uber cab costs about 23 bucks to get to truck from DIA. You can get to laramie in a little over 2 hours with good roads and traffic. By far the easiest way to get on the mountain from Minnesota with the quickness. If you storm chase you will pay closer to 300 for flight but worth every penny.

what about flying into Hayden? from there you can ride black mtn, ripple creek, hauns peak, rabbit ears, buff pass, yellow jacket, Indian run, all within a hour

6 years ago when flights to Hayden were only $300 or so that's what I did. Now they're like $800-1200. I Typically fly into DIA from South Florida for $120-200 round trip. We keep a vehicle in long term parking for about $150 and shuttle service is included. They have our vehicle running, warmed up and snow cleared.

Decker, we should meet up this winter. We stay right in town in Hayden. Usually ride, Buff, Black Mtn or Rabbit Ears.

Can you share with me where you park in Commerce City? I have a house up in Dillon and leave my truck in CO for most of the winter. I am looking into the new park and ride with the light rail, but I read somewhere that you can only park for 30 days at a time and sometimes I don't make it back that quickly. I used to park my sleds and trailer at the camp ground in Kremmling, Red mountain I think, for like $25/month.

Hello,

I run one of Denvers snowmobile rental companies. I have a group of guys who buy a truck every season and leave it in long term parking at DIA (i think parking is kind of expensive $1300ish a year? i might be wrong). They then fly in every weekend from Michigan and have the trailer stashed near their riding area. Every so often I will meet them at their parking at DIA with a rental sled for a buddy who's tagging along.

I think you'd have little issue finding trailer parking near rabbit ears/ steamboat or the snowies. I know from personal experience that finding trailer parking near vail/frisco/silverthorne is a bit harder. I posted a craigslist add last season looking for some parking for my enclosed trailer and all I got were replies from people who wanted to live in my trailer!

If you can't figure anything else out i might be able to help you with some space close to denver.

GOOD LUCK!

....unbelievable. It won't be long before raised permit fee's, parking fee's, parking lot limits etc. The increase in the amount of out of state traffic the last few years is staggering.

Your right. I have been riding Steamboat area for the last 12 yrs and Buff and RE parking lot is always packed with Out of state plates. Funny thing is, even riding outta the same lot I rarely see others when out riding. The OOSER's usually don't venture far from the cat track. But with that..... I would say 50% of Buff parking is form local skiers.
