Best inter mountain towns to "set up camp"

I want to move out west to the mountains for a year or two to work and ride. Anyone know any good mountain towns where I could set up camp for a while? I want to be close to good riding and beautiful mountains. I don't really care where the town is, I'm willing to go anywhere. Thanks for the help!

Where do you live now?
Are you wanting to stay reasonably close to family/friends?

Well if you want to move to UT there are lots of places that would fit. Just a few... Park City is awesome but kindy spendy to live up there. Ogden is getting to be a pretty sweet town and the cost of living is not bad at all. Logan is a pretty nice town also. Of course there is SLC but I don't like city living. Tons of riding and some of the best powder in the states from just about anywhere in nothern UT.

I'm going to put in a good word for Colorado and Wyoming both. Lots of folks locally work at the nearest ski area and find another job for summer. I got real lucky and ride from my door to the mountains. Lots of other great areas like Rabbit Ears nearby(less than 2 hours drive).

I'd vote Bozeman mt. Lots of people your age during school. Riding only 45 minutes away. Fun place on the weekends too.

Oh, and I read your other thread about this same subject and school, if I was you I would take a couple of generals just to get in there and meet people, hear about parties, and meet riding buddies.

I'm jealous. Take me with you!

I've been to McCall, Wolf Creek, and West Yellowstone. My vote is McCall for all around riding and awesome town.

Wow wow wow, whats all this talk about Bozeman?? Don't listen to them, Bozeman never snows, Trails are always long and bumpy, bar scene is lame, no good looking girls and pretty much overall terrible...
Check out Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho or Utah. Those are going to be your best bets man, Trust me...

Haha, you really think you are gonna come west for year or two? I've known many who had that same plan and are still here 10,20,30 years later.....maybe come out, establish residency somewhere for a year, then start school as a resident.
