Best Ice Scrachers

What is the best ice scratcher out there that DOES NOT attach to the rail. I thought I saw some that attach to your skis and maybe some that attach to the underneath of the tunnels.

I bought ski mounted ice scratchers from Ulmer Racing!
And underneath the tunnel mounted i know MCX sell.

Hartman has the ski style scratchers. They didn't last even a full ride for me before I lost one of them. I went back to rail style.

Don't know about the ski mounted ones, but the under the running board ones don't look good. Wife picked up a set of those last yr and I tried mocking them up thru the existing running board holes. Had it bolted solidly and when I tried to pick the scratchers up into the stowed position it was bending the he!! out of the running board.
My running boards get enuff abuse already, I took them back.
What's your aversion to the rail mounted ones?
They're pretty universal and IMO, pretty much accepted as the best type of scratchers.

The reason why I do not want the rail type scratchers, is because I would be putting them on my CR Racing M10 that has polished rails and all my other ice scratchers in the past have scratched and also put a divot where the ice scratcher rests on the rail. But from the sounds of it, the rail mounted ice scratchers are the best way to go.

Take a 3/8 bolt and cut the head off...bend the one end 90 or a 100 degrees with a 3/4 inch lip....powder them black and bolt that to you rail...been doing it for a couple years now...works great...doesnt make any marks on your rails.

Those ice scratchers do not look any different then all the others that are available.

True, but quoting from the post "
Our scratchers have a revolutionary ultra clean mounting collar and also comes with two wear washers per side so the coil part of the spring does not wear on the collar or your suspension rail."

With the included extra wear washer, the spring would not wear into your rails.

I have used the Hartman ski mount type, they work well for narrow type skis. I put these on a few years ago and all my buddies gave me grief ... now they all have them!
