Best high end protective knee braces.

Did they cover just the Brace itself or did they allow you to add the patella and shin guards too?

I asked the doctor about the knee/shin guards when I was ordering. He placed it on the order and the insurance paid for it. The patella part was prescribed by the doctor and also was included.

Like mentioned before. The armor is the top of the line when it comes to an off the shelf item. The are aluminum and rather light. During the fitting the DonJoy rep put a slight bend in the brace to make it better fit my leg. So, it is kinda custom. Anyhow. The Armors are not anywhere near the $3600 price mentioned before. I think I paid (insurance) about $400 each with the optional guards.

Seem as if Donjoy is more likely to be paid for my the insurance. They seem to deem this as more of a medical device than most other brands. I'll find out after next Tues. after PT what they are willing to do.

hey guys, been wearing asterisk cells for three years, love them and wouldn't go without them for a second on either an mx bike or sled. Now that being said they braces do break femurs. I broke mine and the resulting fat emboli realease almost cost me my life. I still wear them! Saying that they don't help is like saying a snell helmet is a piece of sh*t. In the spring of 05 I blew up one of my knees real bad, sidehilling and hit a stump uner the snow with just my left foot on the running board, kaboom! Anything could happen and I'd rather cover my bases than being in the open, saying they aren't a good thing is like saying beacons are for body retrieval. The asterisks stay in place good as long as you put them on snugly with your knee bent 90* and you wear the leg gators. I'm onto my second set and I'd spen the money again in a heart beat.

Just an FYI. There is a doctor over on ThumperTalk doing a study on whether or not knee braces actually help. So far I think he has decided that they prevent minor injuries that you would not have to go to a doctor for, but the jury is still out whether on whether or not they actually prevent major injuries. They offer peice of mind, but may not actually help as much as you think.

This is why when I asked my doctor to get me a set of braces cause my knees are tore up from skiing and wakeboarding He said he feels strongly against them.

I asked why? and he said after many studies they found the braces will do more damage to you leg than without causing a longer recovery and also far worse damage overall

The best thing you can do after damaging knees is lift weights and make your self stonger instead of puting a band aide over a problem

So this year coming off a torn acl in may. I couldn't get a brace prescribed anyway if I wanted. but try to make it to the gym minimun 3 time a week.
