Best handling mods

9800RPM!!! Like to see ur belt handle that RPM for very long...LOL

Old Nytros and new Vipers... header, airbox mod, can, PC5 will get u 145HP @ 9000 rpm....maybe 150 if ur lucky. That said, torque comes up throughout the powerband so it's a very different engine with these mods IMO.

Beyond that...Turbo is much easier and more reliable that trying to run belts at 9800.....

I would disagree with the belt issue. i put over 1000 miles on 1 belt on my old 05 yamaha viper spinning at 10500 rpm. yamaha clutches and belts are 10 times what any other brand is. i have had 3 other vipers and 3 other mountain max's spinning at 9600 with no problems what so ever. just use a shallow helix on the secondary to keep your belt tension and keep your secondary wound tight.

Like I said in my first post, turbo is the only way to go.

Evolution Power Sports has a new flash for the viper.. they have dynoed the sled and came up with 160hp with the mods I mentioned. That's all I know about it.. I'm buying a turbo, so it doesn't really affect me.

Lightweight battery = 12 lb loss
Skinz seat = 5 lbs loss
Headlight/hood mod = 9 lbs loss i made my own carbon piece up
Stock muffler is heavy easy weight loss there

Handling.. I like the polaris skis , play with front skid shock compression setting and i run skid in the upper holes in tunnel front and rear

I see you mentioning 12lbs loss with light weight battery. what battery would you go with? i was reading somwhere else the stock battery only weighs 9 lbs? i'm not sure. i haven't received mine yet so i don't know i'm just trying to figure out what mods to do with mine.

Thanks,

you clutch it to hit 9700 then settle at about 9200rpm were this motor makes the most hp.
this mod will really help turbo sleds out of the hole & on off the throttle

That is the way it was explained to me. Keeps you from hitting rev limiter out of the hole until it hooks up.

According to the dyno graph I'm looking at air box mod, muffler, header, "fueling" PC5 i Guess, +timing, 9800 rpm, 91 octane tune, will give you 160.4 horsepower.

Quite the expensive set up. Not to mention trying to figure out the clutching.

Not even accurate. The EVO flash does the fueling you do not use a PCV with it. Air box mod is free, MBRP can is 270 bucks give or take a few. Flash is $599.00 so you can do this for under 1k. Order this flash with to go with air box mod and can - http://www.evopowersports.com/Yamaha-Viper-Arctic-7000-Reflashes/dp/B015UCV8OE?field_availability=-1&field_browse=5145831011&id=Yamaha+Viper+Arctic+7000+Reflashes&ie=UTF8&refinementHistory=subjectbin&searchNodeID=5145831011&searchPage=1&searchRank=salesrank&searchSize=12

Comes out to right at 160 horsepower. BTW the air box mod used for those tests was one of mine, just like the one you took off the sled you bought.

About the RPM, the new Vector motor in the side by side turns 10,500 RPM right? I am not worried about 9600 - 9700 rpm

The test with the EVO header and can and flash and air box mod was the 171 horsepower dyno graph.

What dyno graph are you referring to?

You really don't need to tell me anymore about the air box mod. I understand that. I'm putting a turbo on the sled, I don't need it. I may put it on my wife's XTX though.

Depends on what you're into. The 16 OEM supposedly makes a huge difference. I went with the Zbrozs kit because it maintains the 38 inch stance which will be beneficial to me.

I have my Barcode 365 kit installed on my Viper. We have no snow to ride yet. But from what I can compare to my wife's Viper with out the kit. HOLY smokes!
The Barcode kit is pretty amazing. Just like there youtube vids. The sled pulls over super easy.

Who knows when the oem kit will be ready? I want to have sled ready when snow flies. Sun valley got 16 inches yesterday. Starting to lean towards barcode anyplace in boise that can shorten shocks

Not sure about moving the arms 5" forward , did the forward fronted on a well set up Nytro and it was not nearly as good as other front ends we tried. Turned into a straight line sled.
I would want to ride one before spending the $$

A couple of the Arctic Cat guys claim that the narrow running boards (Polaris boards or BM Manufacturing) + The "Kmod" steering mod makes this chassis handle a lot better in the trees, even better than the Polaris Pro. The same guy who came up with the steering mod claims the 36 inch stance doesn't address the sidehilling capability of this chassis like the added steering mod and narrow boards does.

Got out for a ride. Just as I expected. Fantastic! Going narrow is good but going forward really makes the sled crazy easy to carve. I was excited when I had it in the garage. Now I cant wait to get out to ride again. Looks like Ill be ordering another kit for the wives sled.
