Best Flat Light Goggles

People's eyes percive colors differently. That is why what works great for one does not for another. I have blue that are just as good in flat light as sunshine, I can't see through the fog in any condition!

The intent isn't to argue but to inform. Blue lenses do not provide the best vision in flat light. Reason being (I might have the specifics of this incorrect but general idea is sound), snow reflects blue light and blue tinted lenses do not stop this blue light. The result is that shadows are not created and depth perception is lost. There was an article about this in a snowest magazine, if I am not mistaken, which can provide much more details and the scientific reasoning behind this.

I have found that the rose color will make things a little darker than the yellow in flat light however, they create better shadows which will give better depth perception and ultimately a better idea of what the snow surface is like.

I usually keep at least two pairs on me when I head out, conditions change rapidly. Amber and Rose are the stars in typical 32 degrees and hammering PacNW weather, at least for me.

If you can find any of the mentioned colored lens' in Polarized that will also help. Reducing snow glare is a must! Those UV rays even make it through the clouds ;)

exactly,
i have a set of polarized amber glasses and they bring out the definition and they block the glare, awesome for fishing, you can see right down into the water, wereas shades you can't

X2. I cant see crap with blue lenses. Yellow, amber and rose have always worked best for me.

Hey XXL. Do the provue fog much. It looked like the Colored lens might cover some of the vent holes on the dbl lens. I am wanting to try these and need info. Thanks, Roger

I got the ones with the fan, I really like them, though nothing works real good if you are workin' real hard. I would not trade them in!

I third the Oakley Hi-Intensity Yellow (they used to call it Hi-Intensity blue, but I think it confused people).

It has a real thin blue reflective coating, which may reflect that blue light mentioned earlier in the post, but most importantly, it's like turning up the sun when you put them on.

Like somebody else said, you HAVE to have something else to wear if the sun comes out or you will have a headache in no time, as they seem to amplify the sunlight...

I just keep a couple of different lenses around for my Oakley A-Frames since I have one pair with the helmet strap for my moto helmet and one with the normal strap for the snowboard helmet. They're easy to switch out.

I ride with yellow and blue and good old clear. I tried several other colors and i'm glad someone has good luck with rose when it's crappy cause for me the rose was horrible when shadows hit. but the blue i like for the sun and yellow and clear for foggy and other crappy conditions.

and goggles are one of the things that you get what you pay for. I found this out skiing and snowmobiling

Yea I know I confused some people I ride with when I tell them blue and then they put them on and are like what blue , lol oh well. and the part about changing them when the sun comes out is no lie, it will about blind ya.

Just got a pair of the 509's in. Have not tried them out yet. What do you guys think about those? anybody tried them?

Oakley ambers, day, night, flat or bright.

I can't believe people are recommending blue. I couldn't see anything with them in flat light.

My low light goggles are Scott Turbos with blue lens. I did like the yellow lenses till I tried blue, now I won't go back. I bought a pair with rose lenses in them this year, don't like them at all in low light.
