Throttle control! I ride with 1 guy who can trench up the asphalt. It never gets better and it does not matter what he rides. Carry some momentum if it looks nasty, and don't just pin-it once she is going down. Feather the throttle some. If you are moving at 5mph and your track is moving at 35mph you are just removing the source of traction from under your sled. The snow conditions determine the forgiveness of the thumb, and different tracks may help some. It is better to help someone who has just stopped then dug a huge hole. Just my opinion.
