Looking to head out to the snowies in early January. want to stay as close to the best riding as possible. Were coming with a group of 8 guys and dont want to have to worry about the fuel situation. Used to stay at the snowy mountain lodge and loved it. I know its about an hour ride from albany lodge, and the ryan park area i am not sure about. Never stayed back there but have stopped in to warm up a time or two. What would be the easiest as far as managing fuel and riding time to the Lake marie area, and so on. I dont remember how long it took us to get there.

I always stay in Laramie just because it's cheaper and it's only about a 40 minute drive to Greenrock parking lot which is then about a 10 minute trail ride to Lake Marie. Centennial is closer but more expensive. They have The Old Corral there. Then your about 5-10 minute drive to the parking lot and there's gas in Centnnial.

#1 Old Corral $99 a night two beds $125 a night for 4 beds. Great food, nice rooms, good parking most days!

#2 The Friendly $55 a night 2-3 beds. So-so parking, ok rooms, bar, gas, and good food!

Both just a short trip up to Greenrock lots better than the ride up from Albany IMHO.

thanks guys but i am going to stay somewhere where i dont have to trailer. we will have two big trucks and two big enclosed trailers and its going to be a hassle to load/unload everyday to ride. Thats why i was asking about ryan park area or albany. If anyone has a better idea to be close to that side of the mountain and not have to bring a fuel tanker with us to ride let me know!!!
Thanks!

Ryan Park (west side) has more options for places to stay on the trail. the place, ten mile inn and Medicine Bow Lodge are all over there.
Albany is on the east side and is the only option if you want Food, Fuel and not have to trailer every day or haul fuel...

Check the Lodging sticky for the details!

Snowy Mountain Lodge is open again. http://snowymountainlodge.org/

We stay in Encampment which is nice because you have the option to ride not only the Snowy's but the Sierra's as well. If you stay in Ryan Park it's only a 25 minute trailer over to The other range.
