now I recall

a couple of years back on one of my favorite forums the argument raged over what was the best ski boat...........then a member summed it up:
best boat : paid for with at least 10 bikini clad deck hands under 20 on board.

bikes about the same: paid for with mounted kit, sunshine on fresh powder and a week off with $20 fur gas.

well said catsledman1. I dont believe their is a "best" bike for a snobike, because different strokes for different folks. Rode my friends KTM 500 xcw the other day and I did not like the wide ratio transmmission, and the slow reving. He commented how snappy my YZ was. In some conditions the torque of the 500 may work better, but the sports car feel of my YZ is what I like. The 500 is more of a tractor

I agree the 500 stock is a bit limp to rev. But I believe that's because of the plugged pipe. I put on a new FMF pipe and wow! Feels a lot like my CRF450R, snappy and quicker to rev. The next step is to port the head. One think I wonder is if re gearing the track to bring the tranny closer together. I find I don't run in 6th gear a lot anyways.

This isn't a poll to say "buy only this bike and no other" it's a poll for the tire kickers and people looking into snow biking to see what most people will be recommending. While I believe there is no best brand there are defiantly features that make one brand better than another. For me that's: EFI, E-Start, kick start and power. Year around usability. For me that was a 500XC-W

When I was considering a snowbike I appreciated posts like this one because it helped in my decision. I am new to the sport and by no means an authority, but I am surprised there are not more Huskys in the mix. After reading these forums for pointers I was looking for a bike with e-start with kick backup, EFI, lights/power, and close ratio. I ended up with a Husky TE510 as it was one of the few bikes with all those options. After about a dozen hours on the bike it is a blast, and I do not want to give up any of those options.
