Best boots for snow bike

Hi Everyone,

What are the best boots to ride a snow bike? I guess snowmobile boots are too bulky right? My feet are always cold and not sure what to get… I am afraid with my boots will be a hassle to change gears…

Please let me know the exact model that you consider best for this.

Thank you.

You get used to ones like klim... You can adjust the shifter as needed but you get used to it. Mx boots are best but my feet don't stay warm enough.. I find fxr have a huge toe though... There are done expansive threads on this.

I got a pair of RevIt Discovery boots and used them in the dirt this past spring, summer and fall and they have been perfect, and totally waterproof. I know they will be great with a pair of Klim wool socks this winter. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle...MI6ru9-ZT01wIVm42zCh1bGAXMEAAYASAAEgKN_vD_BwE

I have over the boot waterproof, lined pants, Alpinestars Andes V2's, so I'll be good to go.

Here is a recent thread on the subject:

Thank you. I've seen some change the shifter which is longer where you put your boot on... Is that a good idea? What is the kind of shifter better for this then?

Depending on your bike, there could be different lengths as well as offsets for the tip of the shifter so you can get the shifter exactly where you want it.

Even for my Beta-which is one of the least common bikes out there, there are good options for lengths and tip offsets to suit just about anyone.

I got a Hammerhead shifter, shorter than stock as where everyone wants to pull with the top of their foot is different.

I know mine is adjustable up and down... Just my loosening the bolt and adjusting... If you you go with a different shifter ... Which I always swap out whether dirt or snow because I run mine high I use hammer head billet because you can get longer options and they are a different shape that allows you to run them higher without hitting the case or chain...

I have a KTM 500 EXC-F

What shifter would you suggest works best? I am new to this and need to start somewhere and advice is much appreciated... Also is there anything I must consider?

I just use the stock shifter in this position and it works fine

Just went through the boot choice process myself, ended up with klim adrenaline boa. I looked at a bunch of the dual sport / enduro type boots and the problem with all the ones except the Alpinestars is they lack protection compared to an MX boot. Alpinestars toucan is nice but at $499 is a bit steep for my taste. Formas were another one that looked okay, but I could touch the outside of the boot and feel it on my foot. Those couple of thin spots could get cold and I can not see it as good protection.

When I got the klim, there was a klim rep at the dealer and he told me that the boot has a flat bar in the soul for reinforcement and walking around on them seems to confirm that. The boot has two major pluses for it it is warm and waterproof, as far as protection to me it seems better then some dual sport models I look at. A few riders I know use them and had no complaints. I did not use mine yet this year but they look like solid choice.

Last year I use FXR boot and it leaked after a couple of rides. There is a new boot made by FLY racing that looks like it may have came out same factory as the FXR, I would not recommend it.

For shifting on my Husky I set the shifter up a couple of splines and had no problems, you do have to move your foot a little more than in a MX boot but you get used to it. For the shifter I would recommend a piece of rubber hose over the end so it does not wear the boot.

alpinestars corozal, or toucan, and or the Forma terra all three choices are waterproof, and have mx, adventure style boot protection the sled,/board boots cant provide. Ski

Right now I use FXR Boa boots for snowmobiling but I find them very big for the snow bike... don't think will work so need to change for sure. Will go take a look at whatever suggested on this post for sure.

In regards with the pegs, I guess they have to be changed for some oversized type right? What would you suggest for KTM 500EXC-F?

There nice... But the ktm does not build snow like aluminum frame bikes so I don't find it as important. Fastway adventures are nice though and I cut out the middle ...

I was going to go with Klim Adrenaline Boas but ran into a ToBe rep while i was in Spokane on Black Friday and bought the Contego boots. First ride with them this weekend and have no complaints. Seem very stiff and well protected without an overly large profile. The best part is they were warm!

I have some insulated Gearne boots I wore last 2 years but this last weekend i wore my Fox Comp 8 and they were just fine

I'll throw something out that hasn't been mentioned yet -- it's understandable that a lot of guys prefer the feel and support of an uninsulated (and even un-waterproof) boot for snowbiking, and if you ride a kickstart-only bike, you risk tearing up boots that weren't designed for doing that. But, being out in the mountains in the winter you have to think about "what if" scenarios and be prepared for the worst. I could possibly imagine living with feet that are a little cold during the day, but there's no way I'd want to spend the night wearing moto boots. Being prepared for the worst case scenario overnight situation is worth a little extra bulk to me.

If I had an extra $500 I was tripping over I would get the Toucans, but for now I am using some old school Burton Comp / Work snowboard boots I got for $20 off craigslist. The bottoms are all rubber and the sides are leather, so they don't get beat up like all the other non-moto boots I have. They have better support than my Klim snowmobile boots and MSR leather dual sport boots (as well as warmer than the DS boots). My feet are always dry and warm. I want to get the Toucans eventually though. You can find them on Ebay all day for $15-20 if you search BURTON COMP or WORK BOOTS

I was using MSR dual sport leather boots, but I completely destroyed my foot (6 breaks/fractures in the foot, fractured ankle) in a wipeout I should have walked away from.

Honestly, I did the whole snowboard, and snowmobile boot thing and then just got some real nice performance ski socks and ride in my moto boots now. I've used Tech 3s and now my SG12s. I don't get cold feet and have the best control and protection. So far I've yet to wish I had more insulation.... that said i'm not standing around in the snow for long periods of time.

yeah those sg12s looked nice. My clapped out sg10s were like frozen potatoes on my feet.
