Best bars?

Who has what on a Pro?

I am not a fan of the Pro taper design, or am I a fan of an aluminum bar.

Just wondering who has found a good fit?

I'm not sure what the RSI Bars are made of but I'm going to try a set on my assault. I like to have my bars a little lower for better leverage in the trees

rsi makes a great bar i had a set on my last years sled and i put a set on my new sled they are a little lower but they make it nice for my style of riding.

Think about it... If your riding on a steep hill in the trees sidehilling and your sled tries to get away from you you can easily pull it back up with lower bars. If you have higher bars your likely gonna end up going down the hill or over the bars. Much more control with a lower set up. Just like treedocker said for his type of riding he likes em lower. Once you start riding technical in the trees you'll understand

i guess i don't because risers always helped me tip the sled over more easily...haven't rode in 7 years though...

I agree completely! Thanks Brett Rasmussen for that one! Had an m with adjustable bars, figured I would lower them all the way for 3 rides regardless of how I liked them and see the results. They stayed down unless I was on the trail till I sold the sled for my pro, and RSI lower bars onthe pro now too. Feels goofy at first, but once you get use to it there is so much more control.

yeah for sure. I had a 2010 m8 with the adjustable bars and I had them almost all the way down. Like you said its weird at first but now I wouldn't want it any other way. I was riding a buddies pro last year and the sled started to get away from me and I couldn't get it back. Thats why I'm putting RSI lower bars on my assaults when they show up. you have so much more control.

I have a new front bumper thanks to said maneuver...:face-icon-small-hap. I'm not a fan of Pro Tapers either. RSI has both chromoly and aluminum bars I believe. Need to look into them myself. Their gel wraps are supposed to be pretty sick too but I really like those ODI grips. Overall I'm sure they can hook us up with a much better setup. Now if they'd offer SW members a preseason discount... hint hint.

Have FUN!

I switched mine out from the stock pro taper as well, I like a slightly lower setup plus a little different angle on the handles. I use the rsi backcountry bend, they are about a 3.5 inch rise and I add a 1 inch block which is about 1 inch lower than stock and more adjustment on angle as you roll the bars forward or back. I am 6'4" but I have been riding since the 70's when riser were not used, so I'm used to them being lower. I agree with the other guys that you have much better control with lower bars.

I'm gonna try a set of Fly Freeride bars with 5" risers. they should be a little bit lower than what I have now, which will probly be perfect. Bars/risers really seem to depend on how tall you are and how much you weigh.

Bars

Fab craft, Mike & Steve put out quality work. I've run there 5 Deg. bars on 6 different sleds including both the pro & A/C. They also come in 3 different heights. I trim 3/4 of an inch off of each side.

I never would have thought that low bars would give you better control. I am 6'4" too and I was certain I needed at least a 2" riser. I am going to leave them stock for now and ride it a few times to see how I like it. If I still want to raise them is there a good adjustable riser that would work on the Pro so I could go back and forth? I don't like to trail ride but it seems like every where we ride it's at least a 10-15 minute ride down a whooped out trail to get to the pow. Feels like the bars are only waist high for me.

Geee DUB,

Bars are like a very personal thing... if you take the time to "fit" your bars and height to you... then you will have a much better experience.

I found the stock bars too tall on the pro (and ironically the same bars were good on the Dragon)

My two favorite setups are

1) ON THE NON PIVOT STEERING POSTS.... SPG mountain bend bars with the Polaris grab strap mount built in... RSI Stub hooks and the ODI/RSI Ruffian grips (note these need to be changed during the season at least once... they are awesome... and wear quickly because of how gummy they are... easy to hang onto. I use the stock polaris grip heaters since they are plug/play.

2) On the pivot style posts (which you can change out to the STD RMK post in minutes for a clean look)... I really like the RSI non rise Carbon bars, RSI stub hooks, ODI/RSI Ruffian grips, stock heaters, and the SPG grab bar (if you like grab bars)... I like the Black hardcoat anodized Block style risers from Power madd (I like how the block risers tie everything together) with the RSI small bar pad on top... Super clean and a great bar to hold onto... they have the same bar in 7/8 Cromoly as well... but the Carbon bars dont suck the heat out like std aluminum bars do. ...

With all your fab access... make some good strong Cromo Pivot steering post stubs.

Eric,
We have 2 different compounds of The 8" Ruffian. Our std compound is very durable and has a great feel. Should get a season out of them with normal abuse. The Tacky compound is much softer and offers that "Gummy" feel. Drawback is, to get that type of performance you will sacrifice longevity. Maybe you are speaking of our Tacky compound?

Yes the Pol heaters are plug and play BUT, they don't heat up as fast or get as hot overall. Polaris Price is $59.95 /pr 2411087 HEATER-GRIP,LO/HI,ALUM. RSI Hi Power Heaters $39.95 Pair. Plus all Snowest forum members get 10% off. Pm us for discount.

Our Chromoly rise handlebars can be cut down to narrow and also are way stronger than stock. Available in 2", 4", 6", and 8" heights. $39.95 no matter what height, you can get bars, grips and heaters for the price of the other guys steel handlebars.
Thank you,
RSI

Those grips sound like what I am looking for. How do you get the old grips off/new grips on?
