What aftermarket items would you consider "must have items" for a new 2009 M8 or M1000?

I doubt you really need anything for the sleds to work well but, what are your favorite mods?

I'm sure I'll need a skid plate? Right?

Best Venting - which looks the best. actually work and lasts

Clutching set ups - what are your favorites for boondocking

Seat - Boss or Mountain Mod

Gearing - Stock or ......

Bar risers - I see some are adding bar risers to the telescoping bars

EGTs - will I need them

Fuel controllers - Power commander, Boondocker, etc

Air intake kits - which one actually seals and makes power while saving weight

Scratchers - is there a prefered brand

Goggle holder - sounds like I'll want one

Porting - who are the Jedi masters?

Pipe and lightweight cans - I like the SLP ceramic pipe and light weight can but, is there something even better?

Lightweight stuff? A arms, etc

What am I missing?

Thanks guys

timber sled intakes. vents. boondocker box. boss seat.digitron just to know what is going on. rktech head. goggle holder and two pairs of scotts.aaen cans sound bad ***.team set up on the clucths engage at 3000 and no bogg. and i runn the simmions skis they work great as long as you narrow the front end

I've never had a sled yet that I didn't put a pipe on it. I have a Speedwerx set up on my 1000 and my son has a SLP on his. I actually think that the SLP is a better set up. We also added their recommended clutching setup too. It really made a difference on his sled. Very noticeable. Of coarse we had to add a fuel controller. Anyway thats the first thing I would do.

if i was buying a new snopro here's what i'd do before i even brought it home:

Skis
Boss seat (I'll never own another sled without one)
dialin the clutching (if the dealer hadn't already)

during the course of the 1st season I'd ready my mod list for summer:

RKTek head/porting
BD Box
BDX intake
revalve shocks
new graphics kit, maybe even swap for a black hood

call it a day and ride the ever lovin piss out of it for the next 3-4 seasons

slp pipe,bd box, bdx intake, NO SKID PLATE, koso dual fast prob egt, the rest is up to you. It wouldn't hurt to run a fuel regulator and set it to the same fuel pressure that slp had when testing the pipe. might make it a little easier to start tunning but it is not necessary. I wouldn't port until you've tried the rest you should stomp anything but a matching sled or a boosted one.

Thanks again.

No skid plate, huh?

Is a BD box a fuel controller?

BDX intake - is it better than the others?

What's with the "air horn" that SLP sells in addition to their intake kit?

slp intake for the 8 and 1000 isn't that good use the slp m7 intake horn and it opens it up to 4" but no weight loss the bdx intake opens it up and losses a lot of weight.

Excluding Boost

IMO the single most important improvement to the M series is a Diamond S hood with Plenum . Add a SW big throat and no issues. Only clean cold air is drawn in and the engine compartment is way cooler, clutches included.

Excuse me but, what brand is SW?

I'm beginning to wonder how important it is for the airflow of whatever air intake I use to match the flow of the SLP air intake so it meshes well with their pipe?

Speed Werx billet high flow intake snorkel.

The timber sled vent kits are the best I have seen yet. the slp pipe works great, very noticable I took off the slp can and replaced it with a mbrp and seems to work even better. The slp intake is a joke, I installed it and decided to throw it in the trash. the BDX seems to work well and will actually flow more air.:)
