Anyone had any luck straightening a timbersled tunnel. I have new sides ordered but want to ride Monday. Went to put a new chain case cover on and thought the plastic was warped stood up and looked down at the chain....nope it’s out like 3/4” my plan is to lay it down under the garage door , floor jack on the part I need tweaked. Block everything in position and see if I can get it to move 3/4” back to where it started. It’s out between the jack shaft and the driveshaft. Hope this works.
My plan worked, so well I really don’t need new sides but I already ordered them and they weren’t all that expensive anyway. Once metal gets tweaked it usually tweaks a little easier the second time. The non gear side looks perfect. The side with the gear is the side that took the hit and it is very close only spot that shows is where it took the direct hit it was kind of folded over. I used a crescent wrench to straighten the full fold over under the case and the rest I pushed out with the jack. I laid it under my garage door header with the jack where I needed to push and 3 2”x4” pinned to the header then some 4x4’s under the rear to keep it all stable. I pushed it a little past where I wanted then checked with a straight edge. Third time it was so close I couldn’t see daylight under the straight edge anywhere. Bolted up the cover and I’m ready to go. I’m supposed to go Monday but my knee is still killing me from the get off. I’ll keep icing it and maybe I’ll get lucky....got lucky with this it looks near perfect.
