Bent clutch removal tool???

Tryed to remove clutch from my '01 SX500 with impact wrench and proper clutch tool from "Pats Small Engine supply" - bent end of tool in shaft. I bought the one for $19.99 made in china they also sell one for $28.99. What am I doing wrong? Is it just soft steel?

I never use an impact to remove a clutch. Just a ratchet or a wrench(and maybe a couple of love taps with a hammer). :D:beer;

Some fill the hole with grease before they try to take it off. The grease gets forced in as you tighten and helps to act as a hydraulic jack as well as lubricates. Have used impact before to tighten slightly, then try tapping on end of bolt. Had to repeat a couple of times to get it loose. Like most tools, some are cheaper iron than others. Borrowed one from a mechanic that was bent at the end. Put in the press to straighten it back out. Looked better when I took it back than when I got it.

A couple good squirts form a grease gun in the bolt hole. Then put the puller in and tighten it up. The grease will work like an hydrolic ramp and push it off.

I have NEVER done it but i have herd of people rolling the sled on its side putting water down the bolt hole put the bolt in. Put the sled outside in the cold. The freezing of the water pushes the clutch off.

Remember do NOT over tighten the bolt when you put it back on. Follow the manuel torq specs and it will come right off next time. I pull my clutch every year and clean it. I can pull mine off with clutch holder, a puller and a 9" long 1/2" rachet.

I have never seen the grease thing work, it's also the last thing you want on your clutch taper
Definitely use a small dab of hight pressure lube on the tip of the puller, puller's usually dont bend, they twist.
do it up tight and crack the end of the puller with a hammer, repeat til she pop's off

u cant buy the cheap puller. i have bought many pullers and the cheap ones always bend. Starting line products has high quality pullers. put grease on the threads and tip of puller. I always use impact....only way to get some stubborn ones off....and almost always heat up the very inner portion of clutch too....just a little bit of heat with propane torch does the trick.

the grease filling hydraulic theory has never worked for me....i have tried it.

I have done this a number of times with a bent shaft clutch puller and was amazed how easy it came off. Tip the sled on its side, fill hole in clutch with water, wrap the puller with teflon tape and screw it in with a socket and ratchet....I have not even needed a hammer and it pops right off with no greasy mess. You will be surprised.
