Bend: Riding locations

Just arrived in Bend. Haven't ridden here before. Not into trail riding so anything with decent hills would work. I plan on doing some snowboarding using the sled also - over the next 3 days. Any suggestions on places for that?...basically, places with a nice, reasonably steep, long slope & a way to get the sled to the top.

kwhol (sp?) butte would be decent for snowboarding and tumalo would be good also but i'd be worry about slides in the bowl on it the next couple days.

If you dont mind hiking, bald mtn is good, it's just north of moon mtn, which will be on a trail map. you can sled to the base, just have to hike up, its wilderness.

Kwolh butte or atleast the shelter will also be on the trail map, no offical trail to the top but i'm sure it's broke in right now.

I might be into riding kwolh tomorrow and i could show you.

thanks for the info. We went up Tumalo yesterday which was ok. Then anti clockwise around the mountain. Went to Mt Bailey today. Good snowmobile access snowboarding. Some good tree riding on the sled also.

Paulina Peak is probably one of the best sled-accessed riding spots around. There's groomed trails to the bottom and top so it's very easy access, and there are some great slopes to ride too. I rode it yesterday but things were getting a bit warm and heavy and we started to get nervous about stability. Just did two runs in the morning then ditched the board and went sledding.

You can also ride Tam MacArthur Rim. It takes a little snowshoeing, because of wilderness, but it's pretty accessible. Park your sled along the edge of Three Creeks Lake at the bottom of the rim.

I'm hoping to ride bailey next week. Where exactly are the good access / riding routes? How long are you in town? We could meet up and swap notes if you're interested.
