Belt Question

This is gonna sound stupid, but whats the best way to change your belt whether your in the shop or out in the mountains. I know you can take out the bolt on your secondary clutch and flip that part over and tighten it back up until your secondary clutch is loose enough to take your belt off. Also I heard you could just lift your track off the ground so your secondary clutch will spin freely but with a 162" track thats unlikely to happen. Any advice would be helpfull.:)

Take the bolt out, flip aluminum end cap re-install it and tighten... Easy!!

if its an 08 and older you can push and twist the helix open, and push the belt down in the secondary to hold the clutch open. it will create enough slack to pull the bottom of the belt off the secondary and the twist the secondary(make the track turn) until belt comes off. Very fast if done right. but this method is nearly impossible on the 09 because of the new helix.

I just pull the secondary completely off. Pop the belt out. Install new belt onto the primary first and them over the secondary. Then just slide the secondary back on and reinstall the bolt. Takes about a minute to do it this way.

Like stated above, on the 08 and earlier, just man up. Set the park brake, right hand on the helix cap, left between the belt on the bach secondary sheave, push with your right, push and rotate with your left, as you do this the back of your hand lifts the belt up taking the slack out of it. belt holds the sheaves where they are at, and it rolls out like nothing. I dont like tearing the secondary off over the splines with the belt still tight. Sucks that i have to get the wrenches out on this 09 to change a belt... but thats life
