Belt Drive - replacement cost$$??

Anyone get a price on a replacement belt for belt drive. I plan on picking one up when I get the new sled, just to have it on hand in the trailer.

I think youll find that polaris might be standing behind these belts pretty well. I don't think youll be having to replace them much any way. From Some of the reports that I have been getting.

I know for a fact that Burandt was destroying them regularly. I know of two locations where he did it.
Maybe it was just testing, but it was very late in the year on one.
He also runs an Assault on his turbo rigs, to have the chaincase.
I think it is going to depend entirely on how you treat the sled. Race sleds have slippers in them, so you can land on the gas wide open, regular sleds do not. Land 150 horsepower wide open on some traction, and something has got to take that load.
I tend to be easy on my sleds as far as knowing what hurts them, but I will be buying a spare.

Talking to Kevin at C3 powersports, they have only lost 3 belts in all of their testing and products sold that he knows of. One was on a 300+HP machine. That's a pretty good record if you ask me. I went with the C3 extended belt drive for this next season, and I'm sure reliability will not be an issue. He sells his Gates belts for $130 (prolly not the same as Polaris) as well as his different ratio top gears for $130.

One of the main things to remember is not to squeeze the belt too tight, it will pull the cords internally.

Ill say this, with polaris using this belt drive, and the belt will not stand up to hard riding there will be alot of pissed off people. So Im betting that this sysetem works.

It would be about right for them to have a top notch sled and ruin it with something that does not work LOL

Hopefully the Polaris cranks can handle a belt blowing like a Cat now that they have two.:face-icon-small-ton

Anyone know what it takes to change it out? I take it you can't do it on the snow?

From what I understand, it can be changed pretty quickly. All you do is pull the upper pulley bolt and it all slides on/off. My plan is to not carry an extra on the sled, but to keep a spare in the trailer so a trip doesn't get ruined.
